When I met my wife in 1976 the lilacs were in bloom . When drove back to Florida I took a bloom home as a car scent and so I still associate that smell with her . The lilacs were in bloom outside of the wall .

 

 

 

 

And so was the Baltica festival

 

 

It included music and Folk dancing

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and donuts !  Thumbs up for Tallin , Baltica and Donuts .

Something that we missed this time from our previous visit to Tallin was a balloon ride

 

 

We had hoped to get a balloon cam shot of the Zuiderdam . Will you settle for the Eclipse ?

Our previous photos are still missing from page # 3 so we are making smaller posts . We did love the clear weather that night but our best sunset came later ,  on our last night at sea .

We were surprised to see The Other Side Gastro Pub  listed in the port guide . We know the owner and he had sold the place and moved back to the US in 2013 . We had hoped to see them while in town .

 

Its very crowded and shallow in the Gulf of Finland an you have to pass through the floodgates to get to SPB .

We found the owner of the Other Side, Doug Pullar . This is when we first met in 2009 . Were sorry HAL but they are closed in SPB.

We met our guide Irina and driver Nickoli and headed out to Peterhof

 

 

We had requested a stop at St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Peterfof

 

 

Unfortunately they were working on the out side and with a service going on inside we could't take photos

 

 

 

So we walked down to the upper gardens of Peterhof

 

 

 

 

It's nice and quite there before you enter the busyness of the upper gardens .

Some people ride the hydrofoil back to the city but we were going to stop for lunch and a Metro ride

We went to Красный кабачок for lunch which means Red or Beautiful Tavern in Peterhof

 

 

 

 

We had Khachapuri which is a Georgian cheese bread

 

 

Dolma or stuffed grape leaves

 

 

and of course Borscht

 

 

They were all delicious .
