NCteacherlovescruising Posted July 2, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2019 We will be on a Summit to Bermuda cruise. We are in Bermuda 3 days. Can we stay out as late as we want or do we have a time we have to be back on the ship by? It never crossed my mind until I was looking at the Celebrity app and it had All Aboard times listed. omeinv Posted July 2, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2019 You can stay out the entire time the ship is in Bermuda if you'd like; or come and go at any time. Harris Denver, CO

We have been there once, I won’t claim to be an expert. 1. As others have said, there is no curfew, no problem coming/going from the ship. 2. But then what? The ship docks in a former naval base across a bay from the main city. Access across the bay by ferry. So, the question really is how late, how often do the ferries run? 3.There are bars/restaurants/shops there on the peninsula where you’ll be docked. But more limited than downtown. So, the ship access is not an issue but do some research and planning around possible transportation issues. And don’t take my comments in a negative light! We enjoyed our time there and will probably do a repeat soon. Stan

warmwinds Posted July 3, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 3, 2019 We have often considered staying in a hotel for a night, enjoying the pools, beach and restaurants, but the hotels are so darned expensive, and what if something happens (weather, emergency) and we don't make it to the scheduled port? But yes, you can come and go as you please.

MJSailors Posted July 3, 2019 #9 Share Posted July 3, 2019 (edited) You can also get to/from Hamilton by cab rather than depending on a ferry to return you to the Dockyard pier. Not certain if there is a time late at night when cabs are not available. Bermuda is not necessarily known for late ,late night entertainment. You may get more information about this on the port of call forum on CC or Bermuda travel sites on the internet. We're on the same cruise and I noticed that too on the app. I'm looking at it now and it lists an "All Aboard" time of 5:30 for day 4, the day we arrive in Bermuda. Which must be a mistake since we are in Bermuda and free to come and go from the ship until we leave Bermuda on Friday, day six. The only set time to be back onboard is when we leave Bermuda. I think it's back onboard by 3:30 for a 4:30 sailaway from Bermuda.

Whenever a Celebrity ship overnights at a port, no matter what part of the world, the ship becomes a floating hotel for the night with an open gangway. A number of the crew love these overnights -- just don't be surprised at some sleepy staff in the morning!

Blue will take you to Hamilton and the West End, Orange to St. George. As a heads up to newcomers: the buses and ferry accepts either the pass (valid for one, two or three days)or tokens as payment, both can be bought at the kiosk which is right on the dock as you get off the ship just past the exit(just follow the crowd to the line), and neither the bus or ferries accept bills, nor will they make change. The last time I was there, exact change (coins only)was accepted, but I'm not sure about now. The gangway will be open 24 hours a day, as already stated. Just be sure to have your seapass card and valid photo ID with you, so you have no problems getting on and off the ship if you're coming in late or walking out super early. It's so peaceful, I would sometimes leave the ship to walk around the Dockyard at 3 or 4am when I couldn't sleep. I would also chat with the Customs agents who were on duty. Like any other place they do have some crime in Bermuda so staying out late might not be the best idea. The Casino on the ship is open in the evening now, I believe past 9:00P.M. Also, someone mentioned a hotel, one of our trips we did a day stay at one of the hotels. It was at one of the more familiar beaches, had a nice pool and they gave us an excellent lunch for the price. We did not have a room but there were changing rooms at the pool. I’m sure we will be back in time for dinner, just making sure they didn’t close the gangway at a certain time because on our app it listed an all aboard time. 7 hours ago, bermadu22 said: We're on the same cruise and I noticed that too on the app. I'm looking at it now and it lists an "All Aboard" time of 5:30 for day 4, the day we arrive in Bermuda. Lol I’m just thankful we won’t have to keep an eye on time for a change.

My point about exact change acceptance was about paying for the ferry in exact change rather than using tokens or passes. Tokens and passes were always only purchased in person. The ferry used to accept the fare in exact change the last time I was on the island, I didn't know if they still did.
VikingRob Posted July 3, 2019 #19 Share Posted July 3, 2019 Normally while in port the casino is not open. Is it open in Bermuda? Only asking because somebody mentioned it being open late. Thanks!
hurwitz5 Posted July 3, 2019 #20 Share Posted July 3, 2019 Was just on the June 5 sailing. We had one overnight in Bermuda. The ship’s casino opened at 9:00 pm for the overnight. Also, want to know the name of the resort that djkretired went to, and the price. We are thinking of taking this cruise again.

We have been to Bermuda several times on both Celebrity and NCL, and they typically open around 9 and will stay open past midnight. How late varied, i think based on how busy.
