Spidybabe1 Posted July 3, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2019 Wow, we sailed on 3 different MSC ships, seaside 2x, and all the food was great. Divina had the best pizza ever, and we are from NY where the pizza is good. So sorry it's not good on your sailing. Safe sailing
sailco Posted July 3, 2019 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2019 Sorry to hear you're so disappointed with the food. Hope you've enjoyed the ship and the ports of call.
Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted July 3, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 3, 2019 Oh drats.... while I found the food on MSC to be 'average' at best, we never went hungry but there was nothing truly outstanding. I was more frustrated with inability to cook an over easy egg in the YC restaurant for an entire week. It Seriously, it could NOT be done haha. Truth is, I haven't ever sailed any line that I thought the food was exceptional. Some lines are much better than others, but when you cut it to the bone, it's banquet food designed to feed the masses. Even specialty restaurants have limits. We did LOVE the pizza on MSC and thought it was the best at sea. That coupled with the budget prices we paid lessened the blow. Hopefully things will improve!

xcell Posted July 4, 2019 #9 Share Posted July 4, 2019 Not sure who's more sarcastic? Southern or Sxphil? In any case, I'll chime in on the "average" food on MSC Seaside YC but I'm happy just eating and someone serving me, well, that's a bonus!!! 5 1

Markanddonna Posted July 4, 2019 #12 Share Posted July 4, 2019 Perhaps aweful is more properly translated as "full of awe." Wouldn't that be an antonym for awful? I make occasional errors, but the writer needs to be more careful when complaining.
thetaro Posted July 4, 2019 #13 Share Posted July 4, 2019 Maybe some pictures and explanations would help. I think MSC food is quite mediocre but I am okay with it. I don't want to overeat anyway. It's mass-produced food disguised as fine dining. I am just happy to have a warm and filling meal waiting for me after a day of excursion. I actually lost 2 lbs after 7 days on Divina and I am happy. I was walking a lot with a 30lbs baby on carrier. Every-time I was in the Buffet, I I wonder why all these people eat like they haven't eaten for days. I remember reading that food waste is about 30% in the industry. I hope cruise line can do better on the waste and cater for better quality instead of quantity. Probably not gonna happen until people change this "get your money's worth" mindset.

Fredric22 Posted July 4, 2019 #17 Share Posted July 4, 2019 Love the food on MSC. The fresh pastas and fish dishes cannot be beat. Also, the desserts are a step above other cruise lines. If you are looking for American food (big steaks, chops, etc.), then definitely not the cruise line for you. If you want to immerse yourself in Mediterranean and Italian cuisine, then you will be in heaven. 1

floridian1 Posted July 4, 2019 #21 Share Posted July 4, 2019 You may have seen my post about the poor experience we had with food..even in the yacht club. We did LOVE the pizza though on the seaside and the very fresh baked goods. Did you try another pizza?..they had like 6 different ones on our cruise... thetaro Posted July 4, 2019 #22 Share Posted July 4, 2019 I am from NYC and we have plenty of Italian pizza around. I think the MSC Pizza is pretty good. The pasta is not the best and could use some plating. I also like the freshly baked pastries. Buffet is repetitive and I hope they have theme night buffet like NCL. MSC has better desserts though. 1fifthavenue Posted July 4, 2019 #25 Share Posted July 4, 2019 Sorry you're not enjoying the food Phil... do try Ramon Freixa's duck royale on one of the two gala nights - it's on the left hand side of the menu - I think that's what you've seen on the video?
