Naughty room

Recommended Posts

On a recent NCL  cruise we had to attend the naughty room to collect our luggage, they had found my kettle  and this was not allowed. We did get it back on the last night.

what experiences have people had with being summoned to the naughty room on RCCL ?

what had they packed which was not allowed?

Did they give you the item back on departure?

We had to go to the naughty room because they thought our bottle of mouthwash was alcohol.  We never had any notification from them and had to ask our cabin steward where are luggage was as we had never been summoned to this room.

Summoned to the 'naughty' room after we checked in a carry on with two bottles of wine in it.

Normally we carry it on but we were early so tagged it and gave it to the porters to save lugging it around.

It ended up down in the conference room and boy was it full of cases!!

Many frustrated people down there complaining of confiscated irons, electric extensions, alcohol etc.... some people insisting "I've never had a problem bringing it onboard before?"

My only frustration was having to hunt for my case amongst the many there.

A quick check of the two bottles and I was on my way.

I had to go because I had a wine opener in luggage, when I told them what it was , was able to take luggage with opener . Funny part was I also had cognac in another piece of luggage and that was not stopped. 😁😁

Can only speak to princess but I got summoned down for a power strip that I guess had surge protection.  Lesson learned.  They confiscated it, gave me a ticket which matched a ticket they attached to the power strip, which I was able to exchange for the return of my power strip at a table right after customs during debarkation.

Was summoned to naughty room for my locked suitcase which contained my lock-a-bye beach bag. Hubby went down, but he didn't remember combo. He had to call me to get it. Once they saw it was a beach bag we were good to go. We now carry that bag on.

Individual shelf stable chocolate soymilk landed us there one cruise - they were certain there was something more nefarious in the bag when I showed them the only liquid was soy milk.  Eventually they let me go with all contents.  I appreciated the experience though as it was amusing to see what others had attempted to bring on.  My daughter though was not amused, it was her bag I was retrieving 🙂

We went to Germany a week precruise and visited a brewery in Bavaria which shares my family name.  We purchased schnapps, beer and souvenir glasses to take home with us.  We purchased a small suitcase and packed it all away with the expectation of them confiscating it.  We were called twice and when the gentleman asked if I had alcohol in the luggage I said "Yes, and you can keep it until the end of the cruise."  He was stunned and asked me to remove the bottle.  I told him to keep the entire suitcase.  I don't think he know what to do as no one has left the entire bag behind. His expression was priceless.

Read the rice cooker story—-hysterical,

Went on a cruise with our parents, who didn’t know you were allowed to bring two bottles onboard.  I explained to her about the size limits and the need to have them in carryon bag. Found out later that she had carried on two HUGE bottles of wine in her bag.  Nobody said anything to her.😳

I had to go to the naughty room to collect my checked suitcase with my laptop in it.  I didn't know you couldn't check a laptop.  I still don't understand it but do accept it.

I've never known of a rule that prevents checking a laptop.  Perhaps they could not sufficiently identify the object on the x-ray.

I thought it was strange at the time.  The language difference didn't help.  The suitcase was locked so maybe that played a part?

Our experience has been that they do not like to open the suitcases, even if not locked.  They have asked us to come down and be present while they open our bag.

We’ve never had to go to a naughty room ( whatever that is )  although many times, with had to go down to deck one in the security area so we can open up a suitcase for them to investigate an item.  It has been several years since we have been called down there.

Think of it similar to when your suitcase is pulled by TSA, they open it up and perhaps are looking for something.

They are really on it now. In Dec on last day they had 2 tables, one having dozens cords alone. Other one saw 2 tea pots, what looked like Hunting Knives and multiple cases water and soda with room tags taped on them that did not get to go to cabins. When boarding saw one passenger taking 6 cases water and soda back to car after trying carry them on

Trash....literally trash...an apple core, orange peel plus seeds, 2 banana peels plus used napkins and wrappers...remnants of the kids snacks on the way to the airport shoved in an outer pocket of the luggage.  Not only did our items violate ship policy, but laws regarding the transportation of fresh agricultural.  It was confiscated, we elected not to retrieve our items at the end of the cruise.

So why don't  people call it the security  area?   Sounds like  we are preschoolers.

One thing to keep in mind. Please remember to remove the batteries. You don't want to be called to the naughty room because of a "buzzing" sound coming from your luggage.

Not a cruise, but heading to the states from Cabo and are waiting to board (tarmac boarding).  We (Wife me and dog) are called up to the counter.  I though we were getting bumped to 1st class, but when we got there, they would not look us in the eye.  Proceeded to tell us our luggage was buzzing and we had to go open it.  The plane is starting to board and they take us down to the front of the line.   I can see our bag, on the tarmac, under the nose of the plane and 2 guards around it.

So they escort us to the bag and by this time they are boarding and everyone is walking about 40 feet from us looking at us (I would have too) and right there on the tarmac they make us open the bag, which was no longer buzzing as the battery had died.  I pulled out the razor (which was supposed to stay in Cabo and not be in the bag anyway) and showed them, but since it was dead, they were not convinced that was the source of the buzzing and they searched the bag as people continue to walk by. No other battery operated items were found.  Finally allowed to put everything back (I kept the razor with me) and board.

Funny now, not then
