Can I earn extra loyalty points

After my August cruise I will be 5 points short of the next tier level which has decent perks. Is there anyway to pick up extra loyalty points?

You only earn points for the number of days cruised. Try doing on short 3/4 day cruise if there is any available!

I was afraid of that. I thought I read at one point you could pick up points thru the casino but after re-reading it, those are separate casino loyalty points. Thanks for your answer.

As someone said, upgrade or sometimes Celebrity has two day cruises which might get you there.  Either way you will probably spend more money than whatever the benefits might be on that next cruise where you qualify for the higher level.

Another way that may be cheaper than an extra cruise is to take a Cruise Tour (e.g. Denali).   You accumulate points at the same rate as your room category.    I did this last year as I was going to be 1/2 day short of hitting the next level.

True, but they would be at sea in a beautiful ship!

Haha, you are absolutely correct!

As someone else mentioned, upgrade your room type if that is possible.  Inside and Oceanview rooms only give you two points per day, whereas a Veranda will give you 3 points.  Concierge and Aqua Classes will give you 5 points per day and a Suite will give you the most.

Or you may be able to sail in a cabin as a single to get double points ... might be worth your while if you are trying to get up to that elite level.

Most ways will cost you but sometimes, if you are in a veranda ... upgrading to a concierge cabin may not be all that much more.  Hopefully, you can figure out something for that August cruise that will sail you into the next level.

The only way is to take another cruise.

Think about it, is it worth spending the extra dollars for the benefits?

We were here in the same situation for getting to Elite.  We took a short cruise to get there before our main cruise.   Other than being on another cruise we found that the extra benefits weren’t really that great as we had a drink pack on the next cruise.  The rest of the benefits are really fluff or redundant depending on the category you book.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

The marketing program is working. I read these type of treads on all of the boards and I think to myself, they got them hook line and sinker. Why anyone would want to spend unnecessary money just for free laundry or a few well brand drinks is beyond me. I haven't seen one loyalty program that's worth selling my soul for.  I would rather pay the additional cost for two perks than for a cruise that I really didn't anticipate or want to take. One day the cruise lines will get smart and base the loyalty points on on board spending. That's where they really make their money.

A disaster no doubt but I can just imagine someone dropping 10G in the jewelry store  or at the art auction and justifying it because that's what they need to become Elite for the next cruise.

I am a solo cruiser in Aqua. I’m also not the kind of person to spend more money for a short cruise to get to the next tier. The bennies aren’t that great.  It is funny though just how motivated you can get to shoot for those 5 little points 😂. I mean 5 points, come on!!

I don't know of anyone who isn't short points to move to the next level. It would be very unusual for someone to land on the perfectly even amount needed so don't feel like it's just you.😊

You are right, I’m just.......1,692 pts short of Zenith!! At Veranda CC or Aqua, that means only 40+ more cruises!!

By the way, I’m not complaining about taking that many cruises, but I’ll be 90+ at the rate I”m cruising right now. I hope they add a free scooter and liver transplant to the Zenith package.

Unless they have changed, HAL does a hybrid. You get your cabin points per day, but you earn additional points for every $300 you spend on the cruise between excursions and other onboard spending (I think the casino was excluded). No “partial points” for amounts less than each $300 though.

I would never consider 'selling my soul' for a few benefits but the jump to elite does give benefits that are so very appreciated for me.  I absolutely love the cocktail hours up in the observation / sky lounge.  It isn't all about the cheap cocktails, either ... but it has become one of my favorite activities.  To each his own, I guess.  Free laundry ... nope!  Maybe I've taken advantage of the free pressing, though.  We have unlimited laundry services on Princess and never even use it.   No ... it's all about the coffee house breakfast and the cocktail hour in the evening for us, even if we have the beverage package.

I know that if I ever become elite plus, I am going to love the complimentary coffee drinks at Al Baccio as well.

Always love those posts were the poster tries to get lots of response by insulting and putting regular cruisers down. And realizing that’s the whole reason for the putdown comments, here I go: I ‘sold my soul’ by getting lots of loyalty points because this Line is currently meeting what we enjoy in cruising. Is X perfect? Hardly. Are there other Lines that are ‘better’? Yup, but I won’t pay twice the price to go on one of them (and there are other reasons beyond cost). I’d rather cruise more, and the compatible LInes to X are fine, but X overall meets what I’m looking for. My subjective decisions on cruising. So X is our preference......until we find something else that we like more, or X changes and doesnt meet our expectations.

You know, kind of like how pretty much everybody picks ocean cruising....and pretty much else.

As you can see from my signature list of upcoming cruises, I am doing a number of Viking River Cruises and we don’t get many bene’s (not yet - havent looked at their loyalty program that close). Why Viking? Meets what we are looking for, at least until we try another Line.

You know, kind of like how pretty much everybody picks river cruising.

I'm in about the same position but there is hope since Celebrity still has wife and I  booked on a cruise for Jan. 1, 2039, as of today only 7115 days to go.

Not quite.  The OP could upgrade to a higher cabin category on the upcoming cruise in question. (unless they are already booked in a suite and thus earning maximum points on the existing cruise)

How about spending 10,000 in the Casino to get a free cruise.

Quesion: got what seems to have been a great deal on my next cruise for various reasons. Say I'm paying £1200 for a Veranda 1B and current cost 60 days out is £1600.

However, I could do with 17 more points. The price of concierge is £1700. If I upgrade do I pay the difference between what I paid and now, ie £500 or the price diffeence now £100?
