Saga specify a minimum of dark suit or DJ for all male pax in public areas after 18.00 on formal nights. The final cruise documentation states the code is strictly enforced but there are reports in threads in this forum of jacket and tie being accepted. T-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, or denim are stated as unacceptable as evening casual, the suggested minimum is smart open neck shirt and trousers.

So are you saying that during the day and on non formal nights shorts and t shirts are acceptable all day including after 1800?  When a formal night is happening does it cover the whole ship or just certain areas?

jetskidia - perfect reply above.  If you want to read more detail, look at the other thread on formal nights, which has lots more information - though it is really fairly simple.  Bottom line, you can, as a man, get away with a jacket and tie and trousers other than blue jeans for formals, and would not be the only one similarly dressed.

Just seen your later post - shorts and tees fine all day, but not after 6 p.m.  I would say minimum collared polo shirt or other short sleeved shirt,  and ideally if jeans, not the normal blue denim.  I sometimes wear black jeans in the evening, or white ones, ideally with an untucked top so the belt, rivets etc. do not show.  And I think you should wear at least jacket and tie on formal evenings, wherever you are in the ship.
