jsea Posted January 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2006 I've done a search but wasn't able to come up with much. Apologies, however, if this topic has already been covered ad-nauseum. Stateroom selection We're looking at some rooms near the bow, aft and upper portions of the vessel. We have concerns about all of them do to previous cruise ship experiences. At the end of the ship are you subject to severe vibration and/or fumes? We noticed that Sky doesn't appear to have a smokestack and therefore assume that the exhaust from the engine comes out from somewhere down below near the aft part of the vessel. At the front of the ship on deck four, cabins 401 and 402 are adjacent to the lounge. Does anyone know how well the cabins are soundproofed in general, and whether or not sharing a wall with a lounge should be a concern? Same question re: cabins 433 and 434 on the atrium (noise from Internet café, elevators, etc.). We did see one thread that said no noise could be heard from any adjacent cabins, not even a door closing, which is nice to read. Finally, if we were to select a cabin on deck 5 does anyone know whether foot traffic noise can be heard from the deck above? Thanks in advance for any insight or advice. We're approaching cabin selection with a 'cruise ship-mentality' but don't know if it's appropriate given we're talking about a river vessel (this'll be our first river cruise).
