Actually "status" is not a reason we travel in a suite..... we enjoy the space and position on the ship....

It also happen to come with a very nice breakfast every morning, and the free laundry which are nice to have...

We never say what cabin we are in and having reach the silver color card it allows us access to canapés, not because of what cabin we are in...... which is good

It is the same, what color card, what cabin are you in... it makes no difference, we are on a cruise to enjoy ourselves regardless of rough weather, fire on board, missed ports and grumpy and rude people .

We are going to have a great time..... and yes to us it does make it better in a suite

Cheers Don

Having enjoyed the suite so much, if we get to cruise again, it will be in an aft suite.  I loved the ship.  I loved the views.  I love the ocean.  My first time setting foot in three Alaskan ports.  I so hope we get to do it again.

75%+ of our Princess cruises have been in 'obstructed view' outside cabins.  I have a real knack for picking Emerald deck cabins that are 'obstructed' but actually have a wide open view (I'm thinking of you old favorite - E409).  For our 25th anniversery Princess upgraded us from a first ever purchased mini suite to a full suite on Crown - and it was fantastic.  We can't afford such a splurge on all our cruises, in fact we've never purchased such a cabin, though I confess to having scored some great deals on Window Suites on Grand, Golden and Caribbean.

One thing I genuinely appreciate about Princess is that there really is no 1st class / 2nd class.  There's no part of the ship that is inaccessible to all.  Even Club Class dining is not much more than a corner of the MDR with slightly (sometimes not even slightly) better service.  If Princess moves in the ship within a ship direction that will probably signal me it's time to move on.  Meanwhile though we'll stick mainly to our unobstructed view / obstructed price cabins and fully delight in the very occasional suite experience.

actually there are places reserved for suites such as the concierge loung. Club class is significantly better service and has no wait. ONLY full suites dine in the specialty restaurant for breakfast.  Also the thermal suite is included complimentary for full suites.  Suites also get into the priority line at guest services. The suite perks are not really a divider amoungst passengers like the Haven is on NCL. If Suites didn't have some special perks no one would book them.

Interesting thread.  We will be platinum on our next cruise in New Zealand and this will be our first time ever in a suite.  I’m excited for the extra space, free laundry, mini bar setup 🙄 and anytime dining with no wait.   Certainly not excited to brag to others about being in a suite, although I’ve seen it happen!    I find it ironic that people are conscious of the color of their cruise cards and now we are going to medallions that are all the same color!

Suites work for me. I don't like eating in the MDR or dressing up. Haven't packed any dress clothes for the last three cruises. On Celebrity, the butler serves the meals in the room. On Princess, I order from the MDR menu for delivery to the room. Breakfast in Sabatini's. It's very relaxing and I don't offend anyone's sensibilities by wearing my sneakers and jeans in the MDR on formal night.

Maui Girl,  I believe the ocean medallions are also color coded.  I have seen both blue and black on this forum.  Suites are very nice. The extra space, laundry, boarding priority, specialty dining on first night, mini bar,  and the list goes on

Concierge Lounge only on 3 current ships

There have been posts saying they removed the priority line at the PSD.

Other than "usually" having no wait for CC, IMO the service is only marginally better than the MDR.

The Thermal Suite is also only on select ships. We have never had a desire to partake in the Thermal Suite.

Princess suites leave A-LOT to be desired anyway, especially on the new ships.

It was our first and only so far cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary that we saved for years to be able to go on.  We were all set to go in a Ruby mini suite when we got a call from the upgrade fairy, so we took it.

We got a bit of flak from a couple of cruisers over the fact that we were in a Vista Suite (we never told anyone where we were unless asked), kind of like the comments I quoted.

In our case, it was drive 12 hours in a 1996 Ford Bronco to get to a somewhat seedy hotel in Lakewood, Washington, to have son take us to the pier and also pick us up when the cruise was over.

This cruise was the last time I really felt special since our actual wedding.  If that makes me appear snobbish, I am sorry.  We are in our sixties with slowly failing health and it may be our last opportunity to do something really special.

Wow!  You have a 1996 Ford Bronco?  The big one!  Really cool!

I know some people do a lot of activities and are only in their cabins to sleep and dress. We enjoy relaxing and having peace and quiet from time to time, so the extra room and loungers on the balcony will be great!

Also looking forward to a hot breakfast from room service on the days we have early excursions, those “breakfast sandwiches “ were pretty blah.

I didn’t realize the medallion was color coded.

Yup.  Living in the mountains, it is the best vehicle we could have, especially in winter with the deep snow.

We booked our first suite 5 years ago and have booked only suites since. I love the extra space, the large balcony (I am an early riser and my husband is not, so that balcony is a great place for me to have my coffee while I wait on him to rise and shine). We also LOVE breakfast at Sabatini's. The first morning my husband talked to our server about a certain type of bread he liked and that he loved salmon. The next morning we were greeted with a lovely plate of the bread and salmon. We were hooked! It is also wonderful to have laundry done. Last year we spent 3 days post cruise in Seattle and didn't have to worry if we would have enough clean clothes...they were all clean! We are very fortunate that we can afford the suite life!

Love it......

We started cruising for a special occasion .... so went in a suite..... oh it was great...

The other half loved it..... I think she thinks it is a standard cabin   ( only joking )

So it is now cruise in a suite or not at all

Cheers Don

Suite Breakfast.

Concierge Lounge.

Sanctuary (with pool on at least Coral)

Club Class Dining

Suite/Elite Disembark Lounge

etc.

I think Princess' trend is toward more of these, to extract more dollars

from people already on board.

Suite breakfast.  A great benefit, but on display for all to see.

Concierge lounge.  Never seen one, first trip on Royal class next month.

Sanctuary.  Not a suite benefit - open to one and all on a first come basis.

Club Class dining.  I've written extensively about this, but here I'll just reiterate, it's simply a corner of the MDR.  Not a special room.  The menu is 90% identical to MDR with one "special" item (often just a different plating of items on the menu).

Suite / Elite disembark lounge.  Again, not a special place, just a location designated for the purpose.

I'll add one that you didn't mention but that I've really enjoyed - escorted embarkation by which I mean a crew member assigned to you personally (1 : 1) to get you onboard.  They 'make a whole' in the line literally leading you past other passengers (regardless of their status).  It's a bit jarring to be honest, it's as close as I've observed to Princess creating a superior class of customers.

Sail with NCL and you'll understand what I mean - there are substantial parts of the ship that are fully blocked from 90% of pax.  Behind the wall are suite only restaurants, lounges, pools and services.  I stand by my statement, Princess has no such walled off ship within a ship area.  Yes, there are spaces set aside for suite guests, aside from the concierge lounge however none of these are out of sight from other passengers.  And I truly hope Princess will not go further down this path.

jondfk,   what do you mean by breakfast in Sabatini's for all to see; is this a compliment or complaint?  Thanks

I wondered about that too when I saw it. We have enjoyed this suite perk on 2 cruises and found it to be very private and intimate dining, not that I cared. The area of the restaurant used for breakfast cannot be seen by anyone walking by the restaurant in the hallway, only on the outside decking. As I said before, it doesn't matter. Unless you stay secluded in your cabin, people will see you.

You really do sound like sour grapes because you seem to put lots of things down. Lighten up --be happy- life is short.

We could have done the suite embarkation thing, but just went ahead and boarded with the group of people boarding at the same time.  Unless we had severe mobility issues, it would have been embarassing to be escorted on by a staff member.

We only went to guest services once to get more disembarkation luggage tags and I did use the priority line for that.

Disembarkation was at Club Fusion where we sat with bunches of other people waiting our turn.  It was mostly cleared out by the time we were ready to leave (we had chosen a later time because son had an almost two hour trip to come pick us up from his house).  When our group was called, there were maybe a handful disembarking with us and it went very quickly.

We were there to enjoy the spaciousness of the suite and balcony, the itinerary, and the cruise itself.  We had no interest in seeming like an upper class.  Honestly, we did not take notice of anyone else as to what class they might have been.  We met some great people and to this day, still do not know or care what their status was.  We were just people with our unique arrangements for what fit our particular wants and needs.

3 suites and I've never experienced this personally or seen it happen. In fact, our first suite, I would have loved to have someone, anyone, assist us as we were totally lost. The only time I have had this happen was when we cruised with a group of 12....our cabin steward met us in the hallway and kindly showed us to our cabins and explained the what/when/where of cruising to the ones who were on their first cruise, and none of us were in suites.

It seems like every ship in The Princess fleet has at least 1/2 the cabins as full suites in reading the posts. Also, the Sanctuary accommodates at least 500 people. /S/

Yes.   Welcome to the  “Suite Life”.   Owner’s Suite?  Since you are booked into a full  suite,  you will have some exclusive perks.  Ask Stewart.

Good luck, and enjoy the  “ Suite Life”.
