stevendom57 Posted July 30, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2019 I am booked on the Joy this coming Sept 7. On Sept 10 we are scheduled to leave Juneau for Editcott Arm and Dawes Glacier cruising. When I went to schedule a time at Le Bistro there were only a few times left. I chose 5:30pm on that day, which is normally a good time for my DW and I to eat. But I don't want to be stuffing my face when the best of the glacier viewing is going past outside. I know I can probably move my time once onboard. But the real question is whether 4-6 hours after leaving Juneau is prime glacier viewing time or will there be plenty of time to see the glaciers before and after supper. I really don't want to miss Le Bistro, I have heard they have the best filets on the ship I would like your opinions. TIA Steven
Sauer-kraut Posted July 30, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2019 Its a long trip up the arm, and you will see it going and coming. I think you'll be fine, hopefully you'll get a table by a window!
Outerdog Posted July 30, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2019 (edited) By 17:30, you will done with Endicott Arm and entering (or very likely in) Stephen's Passage. No stress. You will be good. Edit to add: Sunset is at 19:30 (7:30 pm) that day. Ships need to be out of the inlets and into open navigable waters by that time. Your prime glacier viewing will be a couple hours prior to your dinner reservation. Edited July 30, 2019 by Outerdog

The glacier spin ends around 6:00 pm. Then you want a few minutes to get out of the cold weather gear and into dinner clothes.
