TV inputs on Queen Victoria

We are sailing on QV for 78 days around S America this Jan-Mar.  I was wondering if the flat screen tv's in Britannia Balcony cabins have input

connectors for USB drives.  We would like to be able to watch some of our own movies without needing to bring a laptop and cables.

This thread indicates that there are accessible USB ports on the TVs. I believe you can change the inputs to play from the USB port but I haven't tried.

I think they were looking for USB charging ports but it did say there were USB ports on the TV...so hopeful. Thanks for the link.

A USB port on a TV implies the ability to select it as an input, particularly on a Samsung which is what I've seen on QM2

I assumed it was. I'll probably bring a few usb drives and maybe an extension in case it's in a hard to access position. Thanks again for your help.

You need to purchase an  HDMI cable need and the adapter fro your generation iPad. 

Simple to use and you can then download movies to rent on iTunes- Do not open said movies until onboard as they have a time/view limit. 

 

The only problem is in Britannia cabins with the TV wall mounted as the iPad has no where to sit and the HDMI cables aren't long enough. 

We fashioned a stand from the desk chair and a rolled up towel to support the iPad and then opened a bottle of something and ordered room service!

Perfect for one evening if you choose not to go formal- especially on the longer voyages. 

 

(stating the obvious but remove iPad and cables when leaving your stateroom)

Interesting idea.  We were thinking of just bringing some usb drives with movies.  It's worked before and doesn't require a connection to tablet or laptop.  I was just thinking we might need a short extension from the usb stick to the usb slot on the tv.

Choice is fairly limited here in the uk if you are going for a branded product, although cheaper copies available online with varying lengths.

Not much use when you are already on the ship with a standard cable length, as we found out lol.... I'd suggest the HDMI cable plus iPad/lightning connection with a length of about 100cm+ and that should reach the desk in the stateroom, failing that fashion a support system with chairs to support your iPad as we did.

We are not going to use a tablet and hdmi cable.  We're taking usb drives with movies on them, then plugging into the TV's 

usb socket.  Only cable I'm looking for is a short extension from the usb socket to our usb drive in case the socket is hard to access.

I think the confusion here is around 'usb drive'. To clarify, a usb drive is a thumb drive. I hope that helps.

Has anyone who has been on Queen Victoria recently (this past year) been able to watch movies on a usb stick (flash drive) plugged directly into the tv's usb port (without connecting to a tablet or laptop)?

Yes just tilt TV forward.

USB socket is on the right hand side.
