When we entered Puerto Las Vacas  we were told to take a hike . We didn't see any cows but this greeted us instead

We had previously ordered dinner at the hotel which gives them time to prepare the food . When you show up at the appointed time - it's ready . Fast food done right . We saw Pisco Sours on the menu so that was our starter .

It's about a 3 hour ride to Torres del Paine and it involves crossing into Chile so we left at 08:00 . We did stop for a couple photos like these Rhea .

The boarder crossing meant paperwork for both countries and being stamped in and out twice .

We stopped near here for lunch

Our last day in El Calafate was laid back with a delivery pizza for lunch

On the following day  we stopped at these flowers as we were leaving

And we wanted some cool cash from the iceberg machine before leaving

Could you please advise me what airline and aircraft model this was on? I would very much like to include this toilet on a future trip.

It sort of reminded of the Queen's chair in Geiranger

First stop Puerto Montt to see Osorno Volcano

IMG_8778-002_zps31be571d.jpg

On top of the Volcano it was cold , windy , and damp and the ski lift wasn't operating because the summit was covered by fog .

IMG_7124_zps3no1rwv2.jpg

At a lookout spot we could see the fog starting to roll in

We will be cruising along the Beagle Canal past 5 glaciers in Glacier Alley . They are annotated in red .

The first glacier seen was the Romanche Glacier with it's spectacular waterfall .

IMG_1844-001_zps6c975036.jpg

It was estimated that from the top of the glacier to the water was 2000'. Thus the cascade is in excess of 1000' !

A video clip of the glacier

The tiny green " dots" on the left side of the picture are 50' tall trees.

Looking forward to our next glacier in the brilliant sunshine !

IMG_1944-001_zps3bb547d5.jpg

Alemania (Germany) Glacier . Seeing the glare and sunshine reminded me that I had forgotten and left my polarizing filter at home . Oops , too late now.

IMG_1885-001_zps80fe86a3.jpg

There is an island covered with trees in front of this glacier

IMG_1892-001_zps4aa5b254.jpg

As we passed this glacier we noticed a large cloud of silt called Till in the water created by the glacier .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Till

When we were looking forward toward the sun the glare on the water had made it hard to spot. But after passing it and with the sun now at our backs , it became obvious .
