Mennis517 Posted August 3, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2019 Has anyone used their onboard credits in the casino? I’ve been able to do this on other lines.
Rare LHT28 Posted August 3, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2019 I do not believe you can on Oceania unless you have the refundable kind then maybe
Rare ORV Posted August 3, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2019 It's only been in the last couple of years that they've made it where you could charge slots to your card and have it billed to your account. The last time we were on board you could not use non refundable OBC(the kind you get with Olife) in the Casino.
victory2020 Posted September 10, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2019 What is considered non refundable OBC? I have $100 shareholder & $300 which was given to me when I booked - I assume it's from Oceana.

I would confirm with your TA or Oceania on the $300 OBC but I am guessing it will be Non Refundable Someone else my be able to answer on the shareholder OBC
princeton123211 Posted September 10, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 10, 2019 We were just on Insignia and were not able to use OBC in the casino (OBC was provided by American Express). You can get money to play from your onboard account though.

Mennis517 Posted September 10, 2019 Author #8 Share Posted September 10, 2019 I don't mean to be dense, but isn't that the same thing? If I have $800 in OBC and it's in my account and I get money from my account isn't that using my OBC? I'm confused.

No you will get cash but it will be added to your credit card with a fee attached The only time AFAIK that you get cash for refundable OBC is the last day if you have OBC credit left in your account https://oceaniacruises.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005405974-Can-I-use-my-credit-card-to-get-a-cash-advance-on-the-ship- https://oceaniacruises.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009515654-Can-I-receive-a-refund-if-I-don-t-use-my-shipboard-credit- https://oceaniacruises.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009515654-Can-I-receive-a-refund-if-I-don-t-use-my-shipboard-credit-
Cruseforme Posted September 10, 2019 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2019 It’s called a “cash advance” against your OBC, and in the Oceania faq’s It states you will be charged a 3% fee. I know this is true, because DH did exactly this on our last cruise. https://oceaniacruises.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005475693-What-are-the-casino-policies-

If you don't find out the answer earlier, when you board there will be some cards in the room -- or the room attendant will bring them to you. Each one will indicate whether the OBC is refundable or not. I would like to think that a shareholder OBC would be refundable, but I've never known anyone who has had that as a benefit so it's no better than a poor guess. victory2020 Posted September 11, 2019 #14 Share Posted September 11, 2019 Has anyone had actual experience with using any OBC in the casino to see how it was credited to your account? IE Princess says you cannot use OB in the casino but I do it every cruise. Also, NCL will let you use non refundable OBC with a 3% fee - I believe they also say it cannot be used for casino. victory2020 Posted September 11, 2019 #16 Share Posted September 11, 2019 So you're saying this will go against your non refundable cr edit if you pay the 3%?

DH states that it as labeled ‘casino cage’ line item on our cruise itemized bill or something like that, paid the amt + 3%, and it came out of our OBC. Now that said we had some non refundable and lots refundable, but 0 total at end of cruise. Now there is no way to determine which it was taken out of. There are no accounting codes on the line items to itemize which it comes from. You would have to be given all non refundable to verify.
