Topher From Jack's Shack (Grand Turk)

Saw this article this morning pertaining to Topher, the "community dog", who resides on Grand Turk.  Thought some of you might want to see what the Topher's owners are requesting relative to how he's treated while cruise passengers are in port.

Thanks for sharing!  I, too, was afraid this thread might contain a sad announcement.  So glad he's still with us.  I hope they post some signs around the beach at Jack's Shack making the request to go easy on Topher.  It's funny, with all my visits there, and all my interactions with Topher, I never saw the sand throwing thing.  I've seen him dig, fish, stand up on his hindquarters to spot his target in the water, and dig and dig some more, but never jump for sand.  Usually, most of my time with Topher is spent being his servant/lounge chair in the water - when he comes swimming up to me (and many others), and then rests in my arms while hunting in the water.

 

I love that silly, perpetually wet-and-sandy boy and hope he's with us for many more years!

John posted this earlier in the week on Facebook. Poor Topher. I hope he puts up some sort of sign at the beach to remind people.

Glad the word is getting out.  They (Jack's) posted on their FB and web site last week.  There was also a post on the Grand Turk Board here.

Topher is awesome, and I hope everyone respects the need for him to take it easier.  Our family got to meet him a couple of years ago.  He sure has put smiles on a lot of faces over the years 🙂

We meant him the first time last May, what a sweet dog. Hope people take heed and quit the sand throwing, it was a bit obnoxious when we were there.

We were there in July and Topher was very busy jumping for sand- he was actively playing with this one little girl. It was very sweet. Didn’t know he was in pain 😔❤️

We'll see him and Calypso in October.   One of the main reasons we walk down to Jack's Shack.

Will get to see Topher for the first time!!  Have seen him in about twenty videos!You Tube--he is a celebrity!  Making a dog catch sand is sick--glad the word is getting out!
