Constellation redeployed from Asia to Tampa 2020/21

Does not make sense! Why wait until Winter 2020? What about Winter 2019? The problems in the Gulf are now. P&O are pulling out from this October

However, I have seen another article which indicates that the decision to relocate has nothing to do with the current pro.blem. It seems that there is a demand for cruises out of Tampa. The article also indicates that there will be a 14 night TA from Barcelona to Tampa.

The Arabian Gulf cruises for 20/21 are still showing on the UK site, but are not bookable. - Presumably a work in progress.

Jim - maybe the move is just a commercial decision.  Even if it is a response to conditions, maybe they've looked at existing bookings for 19/20, the level of cancellation (compared to other itineraries) and booking that they might expect to get for Tampa sailings this winter and concluded that leaving things as they are for this winter would be the most beneficial commercially.  - They probably do have a plan B in case the situation in the gulf deteriorates.

Bookings will definitely be down for the Gulf states so they will obviously put the ship where it makes the most revenue. It may have perhaps also influenced their decision if there were good incentives from the port authorities in Tampa which needs a premium line back in there.

We are booked on the Constellation Nov. 9- December 4, 2020.  I am awaiting notification.  I was so looking forward to this cruise Venice to Dubai with some wonderful ports including 3 Croatia ports, 4 Greek ports, and Ephesus.  Some I have previously visited, but, some new ones.

I was booked on cruises 19th November and 4th December and have just received email to say they have both been cancelled!  They have given us alternative dates which are all at the start of 2020 and no good to us. Offered $300 onboard credit by way of compensation if we rebook. So far can’t find anything that I fancy.  We booked onboard so wondering if we can just keep this in abeyance until new itineraries are released. That way we wouldn’t lose onboard credit and other perks we already have.

No email received here yet.....  guess they may be doing in order of departure date?

What are the T&Cs re the OBC please? Is it only for specific cruises and is there a time it must be used by?  Wondering whether I can apply it to one of my other cruises?

Thanks.

I am not sure how notifications are being made as we are on the Nov 9 plus Nov 19, and have not been notified.

This is the Celebrity press release (didn't read it word for word to see if different from above):

https://www.celebritycruisespresscenter.com/press-release/1144/from-the-far-east-to-the-eastern-caribbean-celebrity-cruises-brings-the-celebrity-revolution-to-tampa/

Here are the Tampa Connie cruises - the 11 day ABC itin looks good to me. The redevelopment of the terminal and port area sound promising.

Sorry for those displaced by the redeployment (I've been there and understand the disappointment).

Brought up X website.  Unable to look at cruises out of Tampa.  Would like to book early to get accessible cabin.  Website shows cruises from May of 2020 to April 2021 but cannot bring them up.  Since we are only 1  1/2  hour away good be good choice.  Any ideas?

I would call a TA or X to book - the above flyer was from a TA resource that just popped up (maybe today). I don't think they are out for the public yet.

Press release says tomorrow for booking I believe.

You are right. I just read the release:

" Guests will be able to begin booking cruises on board Celebrity Constellation out of Port Tampa Bay beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13, 2019. For more details on Celebrity Constellation’s redeployment and the exciting new sailings being offered, visit www.celebritycruises.com/ports/tampa."

At least people can review the itineraries in the flyer above and be ready to book tomorrow. 🙂

Constellation is scheduled to be revolutionized May 2020 in Cadiz.  I wonder how this Tampa change will affect these plans?

Not at all as the Tampa sailings start in Nov 2020.

I canx Connie in April 2020 as I didn't want to be on her last sailing for the dry dock... and my Singapore Dubai cruise was the replacement cruise...... destined not to go on Connie again it seems!!

Here's the press release

From The Far East To The Eastern Caribbean: Celebrity Cruises Brings THE CELEBRITY REVOLUTION To Tampa

Starting in October 2020, Celebrity Constellation will call the booming metropolitan city home

MIAMI, Aug. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- A revolutionary ship is coming to Port Tampa Bay, as Celebrity Cruises unveils a brand new homeport, expanding the brand's global vacation offerings with the redeployment of Celebrity Constellation. The newly "revolutionized" ship will offer guests more island time than ever before, with three unique alternating 10- and 11-night roundtrip sailings for the winter 2020 season.

"Our guests and travel advisors have been asking us to return to Tampa since our last call there in 2007," said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises. "While 'Celebrity Cruises' fleet is undergoing a massive modernization with THE CELEBRITY REVOLUTION, the beautiful City of Tampa is also experiencing quite a renaissance. How fitting for our evolving brand to return to an evolving city with a completely 'revolutionized' ship?'"

Recent construction and development in Tampa Bay aims to create a truly dynamic, urban lifestyle for workers, residents and visitors alike. The city's downtown waterfront is currently being transformed through the $3 billion Water Street project. The 50-acre district will feature retail, offices, homes, hotels, culture and education. Transformation of Tampa's urban core was enhanced by the completion of the Tampa Riverwalk, an area now seeing hundreds of millions of dollars in private investments. In addition, historic Ybor's City's revitalization further adds to Tampa'suniqueness as a robust and desirable world-class destination.

"We are very excited to welcome Celebrity Cruises to the Tampa Bay market. In 2020 Celebrity Cruises will offer a variety of itineraries from Tampa that will include stops at exotic locations in southern and eastern Caribbean. The addition of this premium brand to the explosive growth that Tampa Bay is experiencing will add an extraordinary adventure to the many choices vacationers have in Tampa Bay," said Port Tampa Bay President and CEO Paul Anderson.

Following a leisurely 14-night Transatlantic crossing out of Barcelona, Celebrity Constellation will begin offering guests three unique itineraries, including a 10-night Eastern Caribbean escape, calling San Juan, Puerto Rico; Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; and Samana, Dominican Republic; an 11-night Southern Caribbean trek with visits to Key West, Florida; Kralendijk, Bonaire; Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curacao; and George Town, Grand Cayman; as well as a brand new 11-night "Touch Canal" itinerary, sailing to Cozumel, Mexico; Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; the Panama Canal; Colon, Panama; Cartagena, Colombia; and George Town, Grand Cayman.

Celebrity Constellation is currently scheduled to undergo its "revolutionary" modernization in May 2020 as part of THE CELEBRITY REVOLUTION, Celebrity's $500 million investment in ship-wide upgrades and breathtaking reimagined spaces, taking the brand's fleet to the Edge.

Guests will be able to begin booking cruises on board Celebrity Constellation out of Port Tampa Bay beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13, 2019.
