Uber in Waikiki area....pros and cons

I'm looking for opinions on getting Uber rides in Waikiki area.....any bad experiences? Positive reviews? Taxi better? Thanks!

Uber is better in my experience-- taxis aren't as common any more. Taxis will rank up at major hotels though like Royal Hawaiian etc.

2017 we used Uber three times during our visit. Two of the three drivers were military dependents not that familiar with the area so they got lost (evidently the Maps app doesn't work well in the Waikiki area). One of them drove in circles around the Iolani Palace for 20 minutes trying to figure out which entrance they could enter. That being said I would still use the service due to cost and service. 😀
