Melia Nassau day pass

Were looking to do a day pass at the Melia in Nassau, do we need to book through a place like resort for a day or can we just take a cab to the Melia and buy a day pass there?

So much depends on the weather.  We just walked in and bought a day pass at the desk.

There are good and bad either way.   Weather can be a factor if you book in advance, or the ship changes schedule.  But waiting to the last minute can be iffy as well as they limit the number of passes if there are other events (such as weddings, conferences, etc) going on as well.   Weekdays I'd probably just wing it.   Weekends, I'd book in advance. 

Just my 2 cents.

We were there in Feb of 2018.   I can't remember what day of the week.  We just walked off the ship and had a taxi take us there.   The water was beautiful.  We got our day passes right at the door.  The only thing I remember it including was a Star Bucks drink, chairs, use of the beach and restrooms/changing area.    The places to sit were limited for day pass users and finding a chair in the shade was difficult at first.   We sat in the wrong spot at first and we had to move.  The security guy felt bad having to make us all move.  We had someone in their 70's with us and the walking to find seats and not having shade right away was hard on her.       The parts I loved the most was that there were no solicitors and the color of the water was so blue.   The drawback was it was busy.   That was my first trip to Nassau and I am glad we visited, but we will try another place in Nassau this next trip.  No regrets, glad we went.

Last time we went there years ago, we only purchased a day pass to go on beach and use pool area, do they still have that?

No they do not. The only day pass option is now what is listed above.

I emailed Melia yesterday and the less expensive $40-50 pp option is no longer available.  

This stinks b/c really all I want is an umbrella, a lounger and decently clean restrooms. 

Now we'll need to rethink whether we stay on the ship as we've been to Nassau so many times.

Yes, albeit before renovations and only $70 pp, but really enjoyed it, even liked the breakfast and lunch buffet.

Oh, were they recently renovated?  They hotel or the pool area etc?
