If you are referring to the flag with a red saltire on it, it's the flag of Florida.

Why does the ship fly the Jamaican Flag while docked in Port Everglades?

I hadn't seen the vlog before posting, looks like it was a charter cruise  (Jam Rock)

I just watched your vlogs. I cant believe how really small your cabin is and how little storage.

Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions.

Good luck in your new position.  We will be on the Mariner over Christmas. We don't spend any time in the casino but will definitely look for you and say hi.

I think you should ask for a new badge😊

I might be a little nervous that they couldn't even spell "Assistant" correctly. 😂

In all seriousness though, best of luck! And have a great time.

I'm dying here.

Wonder if someone from the IT department was in charge of creating these badges 😁

Enjoy the Mariner, it is one of my favorite ships. And remember, the casino cruisers LOVE the casino hosts who smile and talk to them and make them feel that they are welcome in the casino! I have a feeling that you are going to be great in your new role.

Funny, but I'm thinking they do it onboard.  Some ships used to give high point cruisers crew badges.

You're probably right, but it's pretty sad that no one caught that misspelling before the badge was issued.  For an actual crew member.

Big fan of these kinds of threads, we appreciate the time you're taking to answer our questions. Here are mine:

How much free time (not working/sleeping) do you have each day? What do you typically like to spend your free time doing? What areas of the ship are you allowed to go to during this time?

Favorite thing to eat on the ship? Favorite thing to do? What kinds of things do you miss the most when you're onboard?

Does anyone clean your bathrooms or are you responsible for that?

Also would love to see pics of crew eating area, curious what kind of food they serve you guys. How many meals a day do you get? Do you get breaks during your shift?

I had a very simply question, wondering what the job of an "Asstistant Casino Host" would be besides smiling at the guests. But Google told me it's a tough job.  https://www.cruiseshipjob.com/mvc/j2191/Norwegian-Cruise-Line-jobs-Casino-Host

If I ever meet you on a ship,  please don't work too hard "to secure repeat daily visitations"  but focus on the "comp drink cards" instead :classic_biggrin: Have fun!

I understand that but I was so looking forward to actually having questions answered by an actual crew member but already everyone is interjecting their answers to questions that were meant for the crew member. Disappointing!

There are some on here that do believe they know more on most subjects than that of the employee. And in some situations, they actually might! LOL

BAC for all crew, at all times on the ship (working or resting), is 0.04%, or about half of what is considered intoxicated in the US.  Crew are subject to random drug and alcohol testing, as well as "reasonable cause" testing (if a supervisor or a surveillance camera sees actions that could be indicative of being intoxicated) at any time.  Needless to say, the camera outside crew bar is constantly monitored, and times like crew parties, as well as the areas close to the crew gangway after port calls.

When you Google for videos with "cruise crew party", each time they captured just the right moment when everyone was drinking one of the two beers allowed for the night. (http://www.alcoholhelpcenter.net/Program/BAC_Standalone.aspx says even 2 drinks, when tested soon enough, should get you fired). That's either an amazing coincidence, or some Captains are breaking some rules to keep up morale while making sure there's enough crew sober as backup when the ships hits the iceberg. I hope it's the latter.

It's not that you are allowed only two beers a night.  You are misinterpreting the BAC chart you link.  If I weighed 180 lbs, and drank one beer an hour, I could do this all night long and still be under the 0.04% BAC.  You could probably get by with two beers an hour, and still be fine, depending on your metabolism.

Corporate IT I’d say. 😉

It would explain their math on sales prices.

Your cabin does look small, but livable.  Your wardrobe though has me wondering how many "work outfits" you have and how often you need to launder them.  I would think you'd need at least a couple of suits and maybe a smart casual outfit or two for work.  Do employees need to pay for laundry?  Is it DIY or do you use the same ship's laundry service as passengers?
