NCL CAS Freebies?

Recommended Posts

At what point do you get any perks with NCL CAS?

i just got off a 5 day on the Sun and got a little over 1,500 points and the host told me he could give me $15 in free play that’s it...which is an insult considering the amount I lost. A guy I was talking to had 3,500 points and was down $2,000 and the host offered him $35 in free play...which is pathetic.

Do better offers come in the mail? Any chance for a discount on a future cruise or anything? This level of play in Vegas usually gets me a Comp Junior Suite at Paris or PH plus a few free dinners.

Call CAS in a week or two.  I wouldn't be surprised if they had a free cruise offer for you.

I think that you need 2500 points for a free cruise.

I would have probably hit 2,500 points had I been on s 7 day cruise but with it being only 5 days...

You need to lose at least $2500 to get an inside comp. it is not based on points. If you lost at least that call CAS and see what they offer you.

I got to about 2000 points, losing about $1000.

I already had a drink card since I had a land based offer.

Was also not impressed since with Carnival losing the same amount I got free wine, free steak, and a lot of offers for cheap cruises.

300 points per day really isn’t much so I’m not surprised you didn’t anything extra while on board.  I also average 300 points per day when cruising and have never received anything from NCL except a 20% discount on a future cruise.

In Vegas, I play bigger.  But, my 700 points per day at Paris has never gotten me a comp for a junior mini suite in 20+ stays there...best I can get is a comp Burgundy corner room with a view.  What am I doing wrong?

The last time I was on Carnival, a host comped me a steak dinner for 2 with wine once I reached 2500 points.  Maybe NCL has the same criteria?  I don’t know as I’ve never reached that on a NCL cruise.

The last time I was on Carnival on a 7-day cruise, I had over 7,000 points and the host comped me nothing.  I always have between 5,000 and 6,000 points on NCL, and the host comps me nothing. Looking for a new cruise line.

I am platinum plus on NCL.  Lately, they seem to be stingy with the offers.  I have done a few on Holland America and receive much better offers.

Make sure you are using your Players card!   I've been pretty happy with my perks.

Here are the benefits.... https://www.ncl.com/in/en/why-cruise-norwegian/casino-cruise/players-club

It depends on your tier of play: 0-5,000 pts is Jade; 5-15k is Pearl; Sapphire is 15k+; Ruby 35k+; and 100k+ is Elite.

I usually get a comped inside or balcony cabin ... It depends on when, where and how long you cruise. I'm Sapphire, so I get $200 on-board credit.  I think it was $100 OBC when I was Pearl. In addition, I get free premium drinks in the casino.

At the end of the cruise, I get additional on-board credit depending on my level of play and win/losses.

Platinum Plus is NCL's loyalty program and doesn't get you any casino perks.  It does give you free dinners, laundry, priority check-in, along with some additional discounts and benefits.  As a Platinum Plus member, I'm happy with these benefits as well.

I understand that.  What I meant is that I am very loyal to them, spending heavily in their casino.  They are not very generous anymore.

Yes, I understand all that.  How would anyone know how many points they earned without using their players card? I’m Platinum with NCL and Pearl in the casino.  I get comped cabins. My point was that the host hasn’t approached me in a long time with a free specialty restaurant dinner or anything else.

I'm Ruby with CAS and start each cruise with $400 OBC, 400 minutes of internet and Ultra drinks in casino.   At the end of the cruise on the last night the host will usually comp me an additional $400 or more off my bill.   I always talk to a host that first day on board and they give me a card to mark my choices for 3 treats sent to our room.  (Choice of chocolates/wine/shrimp plates/cheese plates).

For a cruise during my birthday month they give me $100 in freeplay, plus this last cruise they had a delicious double layer personalized birthday cake sent to our room.    I haven't had them offer me a dinner in the last couple of years but I like the guaranteed OBC much better.  I already have two Platinum meals and usually the 3SDP so I don't need them to get me an additional meal.   I prefer to buy watches or make-up or shore excursions with my OBC.

I usually average over 1000 points a day on the cruise and I get comped Balcony or MiniSuites cruising 4 times a year.

I like cruising NCL/CAS and knowing I have guaranteed comps when I walk onboard .

The free play they mentioned is tied directly to the points you earned and can be used in the machines at any point, even future cruises (but you have to have those points transferred to the new cruise by CAS or while on the next cruise by the casino host).  100 points = $1.00 of free play.

This has nothing to do with the future offers of discounted/free cruises or future free play.  As mentioned above, call CAS in a week or two and ask what they can offer, but it helps to have a few future cruises in mind when you call.  I do find that their offers may change based on how far out you're booking the next cruise, how many casino guests are on already booked that trip, etc.  I've been offered everything from 10%/20% to a free cruise with casino drink card.  They do look at actual and theoretical losses, and a $2,500 loss seems to be the threshold these days to get a freebie on NCL.

Note that "free" is not without cost. If comped, you still pay the port/govt taxes and a $20/night admin fee and get the available perks being offered at the time....one for an inside, etc.
