Bank Holiday in Scotland

I think May 25, 2020 is a Bank Holiday in Scotland.  We are scheduled to be in Edinburgh that day.  How will the holiday impact our visit?

Hardly at all I would expect. On Bank Holidays, it's mainly offices, factories and government departments (including the Post Office) that shut down; also schools will be closed. Tourist attractions and businesses that cater for tourists will be taking advantage of the extra business. You may find that some places, like Edinburgh Castle, are pretty busy though.

Tourism does not stop for a holiday and most shops will be open as normal, it’s the Banks, Post Offices and some offices and works that will be closed. Most transport will be as normal although some may run a Saturday service. Public or Bank holiday weekends usually means engineering works on the railway but they can’t be everywhere and buses will replace any trains not running.

Royal mail will be closed but not post offices that are franchises. So those connected to a shop like newsagents. No deliveries but you can still post things.

 

You find that you probably won't realise it was even a bank holiday until you try to go to a bank. But there's plenty of ATMs in Edinburgh to withdraw money or money exchange places  open.
