This is the last of the bus tour and then we will elect to get off at the fish market and wander.

We wound our way back to the harbor area near the fish market and there we elected to get off.

first order of business was to find a restroom...

Driving down one of the streets on the way there the guide Jenny pointed out a street name where we could get a shuttle back to the ship later. When we left the bus and Carol asked her for directions to said shuttle Jenny said "a couple of blocks that way" pointing and was vague. It was near a park. carol's notes describe Jenny as a low talker with misinformation or patchy information who glossed over the "Hanseatic League" when talking about the Bryggen with no mention of the German trading influence there.

Norris,

The approach to Bergen reminds me a lot of the coast of New England (minus the oil rigs).  Very scenic.

Trip

Thank you for sharing. Pictures are beautiful. I will never get the chance to do this itinerary. Enjoying seeing it though your eyes.

Thank you for reading along and for the kind compliments!

That's it for bus pictures and motion blur until Flam. Train pics there too and some mighty waterfalls.

I'm on foot in the beautiful town of Alesund and I can't wait to see what I shot there.

Keep coming back!

Norris,

Thanks for the beautiful pictures.  I am considering this 5.5 hour excursion for next June.  Overall, what did you think of the excursion?  How much time in Hardangerfjord?  Thanks for your input.

On the harbor there was a pay toilet. Using credit cards with chip. There was a short line. Some folks cards didn't work which reduced waiting time for us but caused a problem for them. It was lit in an eerie blue which is to stop drug users from finding a vein.

Hi and thanks for reading!

We canceled Hardangerfjord due to its length and too much bus travel. We did the shorter Bergen Panorama but next time would just get off the ship with a city map or a Rick Steves walking tour on our phones.

We are heading for the Floibahn-the funicular up the mountain. Carol bought the tickets on line.

I took a few more snaps along the way

Carol said this was a restaurant recommended by Rick Steves and I loved the location so our plan was to return here after the funicular

Some good news

After 2 frustrating weeks of trying to upload video to Youtube, which is showing outages in many countries on a daily basis I threw in the fluffy towel and am uploading to Vimeo.

I used the CC test forum to see if it worked....

I am uploading a video of our visit to the top of the mountain in Bergen for a bird's eye view...

I have been excited to read this review that I knew was coming, but I am late.  I promise

I have a note, not from my Mother, but from Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

We just got home from our travels and a Greek Isles cruise on the Jewel of the Seas.

I am all caught up with your wonderful review now, and I will start my own soon over on the RCCL board.

Disclaimer:  My pictures are from iphones so in no way will be Norris worthy, but we give it our best shot!

Thank you to you and Carol for always taking us along on your adventures!

As always, I enjoyed all of your out the window bus photos. One of the many things I like about your reviews is that you always include candid street scenes from the cities you visit. I find them just as interesting as the obligatory tourist stops.

Norris, I took this from the Funicular 3 weeks ago.

Just to show the sun sometimes shines in Bergen. 😉

Norris - you mentioned that Carol had got the tickets for the Funicular on line. - is there a separate line for pre booked tickets or do you have to queue up with the others?

We are going on a Fjord cruise in June so are following your review with great interest. Loving your review & the photo's - we are captivated!

Hi cinnamon, yes you saw some beautiful weather! Lovely shot.

As we watched the Bergen weather for 3 weeks before we sailed I saw that the cruise before ours (ending 9/1) had 70 degree days with sunshine. Luckily the 90% rain forecast for 9/3 didn't happen while we were there.

Thanks for the photo!
