Your through the bus window and between the trees shots were amazing.

The troll room - I don't know Norris, but I do not like clowns and I am also finding trolls in this same category. Creepy.

Your dinner looked delicious.  Rick Steves is the best.  I love fish but I am always afraid that it will come out whole with the head and eyes and everything at a restaurant.  It happened once and I said never again.

I have heard many good things about the Silly.  Looking forward to seeing more of the ship.

Love your song references.  Big Johnny Cash fan here.

See you onboard, hoping that Lorenzo will head further North as it is predicted to travel East.

I hope no issues with hurricane that started off coast of Africa. My goodness

I am excited and flying tomorrow from Phila to London and staying 2 nites in Kensington area with shuttle to port.

Looking forward to this ship. I did Ovation of the seas special 11 day Alaska cruise this year as well  This ship seems to have more cozy places and nice places to look at ocean. You tube videos helped.

But Canaries is on my bucket list. Sorry I did not join roll call for this trip.  Toodles

Norris, I’ve been absent from here for a while. I can get an excused absence note if you require one. The main thing, though, is that I’m back, and all caught up on your Gentleman’s Seafaring Journal.

I have ave no idea when I might ever manage to get to Norway on my own, so I’m really enjoying seeing it through your eyes and your camera lens! Your pictures are sensational, as usual. Thanks to you and Carol for sharing your journey with us.

Differing reports on Lorenzo, some forecasts saying it will follow the Gulf Stream and cross the south coast, others report it will continue up to Scotland.  The roll call has been fairly quiet, but it is not too late to sign up for the Meet and Mingle, 29 at the moment.  Have a good flight.

With well satisfied tummies we set off to find the shuttle to the ship. It was by that park with the lake seemingly

along the way

it's just after 6 p.m

48817900973_ae22dac291_k.jpg

We look at every bus that goes by and scan for signs. We reach the park

48818276156_93023d4faf_k.jpg

and walk all the way around

48818276931_e3c0b15751_k.jpg

There were a lot of buses picking up by the park but no sign of port shuttles. Carol asked a local  lady on her way home from work but to no avail. We retraced our steps towards the harbor and as we walked Carol saw a taxi coming behind us and waved for him to stop. He pointed up ahead but didn't stop as he likely is not allowed to unless at a taxi stand. We quickened our pace and yes he was up ahead waiting for us next to a Taxi sign. As there is more than one cruise ship berth he asked which ship and within 15 minutes he had us in the shadow of the Silhouette outside the dock gates as he couldn't go in, just the way pedestrians can't. We paid the $18 fare in Krone (180) and luckily there was a shuttle bus already loaded, waiting by the gate. Hooray!

Within 10 minutes I was up by Sunset Bar

With no hunger following our early dinner in Bergen there was no reason to stay up late

and once in our cosy cabin we stayed put. Carol's notes say we hit the hay (the cabin steward had brought us a bale at turndown) at 9.30 pm. We had a 5 hour excursion at 8.45 a.m...

I'm loving your review, Norris.  Silhouette is our favorite ship also.  we love the Lawn Club Grill.  I was wishing in the revolutionization they would have added that restaurant to a few more ships.  Maybe it's too expensive to put in as a refit.

We have Norway on our bucket list also.  Spent a week in Oslo once and we loved it but thought it was the most expensive place we have ever been.

A couple more seconds and the man carrying a barrel on his shoulder would have been immortalized.:classic_wink: It's still a beautiful picture.

 Thanks JF!

I considered cropping him out but his attire and the barrel he was carrying spoke of a different age, just like the statuary and I liked that.

Cheers,

Norris

Dear Norris and Carol

This is the second review of yours that I have read.  Your sunset pictures above are superb.  I read your Azamara Cuba review and enjoyed your writing style and photography so when you posted the link to this on the Azamara board, I clicked and joined!  We have this summer taken our first ever cruise; Azamara Croatia Intensive and loved it and have gone from ‘no it’s not for us, not our cup of tea’ people to completely hooked in the space of 7 days!

I have also stayed at Horseguards and it is a fab location.

Anyway, thank you both for taking the time and effort with your reviews.

Hi, and thanks for the comments!

Croatia we love from just one visit to two little scenic spots, one of them we have seen since by watching Game of Thrones.

Azamara we love from our Cuba cruise. I can see how you would get hooked.

Carol got hooked on her first morning at sea on Coral Princess to Alaska (2011).

Horseguards is a quiet little gem of a hotel. We will stay there again.

Read on....

September 4 2019

Golden Slumbers filled my eyes....until I woke at early o'clock. I dressed in the bathroom so not to wake She Who Sleeps and entered the long corridor that stands between me and my only thought-Coffee!!!

As I was up by the Mast Bar I stopped into the Solarium to grab a few shots of this beautiful space. Every ship that has the space should have an extra pool indoors or retractable roof over an outdoor pool. All those in favor say "aye!"
