St. Thomas & St. Martin with a scooter

I haven't been to St. Thomas or St. Martin in 7 years & this will be my first time while using a scooter.  I'll be there on the Regal Princess in mid-Nov.

As I recall, you can hardly walk in St. Thomas, much less use a scooter -- still true?

What about St. Martin?

Also, any idea what a taxi for 3 to Megan's Bay will cost?

THANKS!

The route into town and the sidewalks in town are not the best in the world, however it is only about 1 ½ miles into the center of town from the ship. On one trip, as we were headed to Blackbeard's Castle, the police stopped us and told us it was not safe due to crime rate. So we just wandered around town. We have made the trip a number of times.

Have a wonderful cruise,

Betty

In St Thomas, if your ship docks at Havensight, there is a large mall right off the ship that is accessible.   It has many of the shops that are downtown.

If you are taking your scooter to Megan's Bay, unless it can be folded up to fit into a vehicle trunk, you might consider ICBW Transportation (it stands for It Could Be Worse).

They get good reviews:  https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147404-d12416202-Reviews-ICBW_Transportation-St_Thomas_U_S_Virgin_Islands.html

John Sage gives St Maarten 4 stars for accessibility.   https://www.accessiblecaribbeanvacations.com/st-maarten-disabled-access#

If you are interested in a tour on St Maarten there is a company I have seen mentioned that has accessible excursions.

Take your passport with you in St Maarten because local security will probably ask for it when you return to the pier.

I know this thread is from last year, but I wanted to thank @kokopelli-az for this info. I just came back from a cruise that stopped in St. Thomas. I use a bariatric scooter. I booked a tour with ICBW and it was fabulous. Not only did Larry get my scooter in his van, but he agreed to take a friend who is in a folding powerchair with me. He was gracious and helpful.
