British Isles September 2020

Hi!  We are sailing on a 12 day cruise RT to Southampton next Saturday with a few days to travel first in the interior.  I would love suggestions for where to start my research.  It is very port intensive so we probably won't be on an excursion every port.  Obviously, I am and will read this board, but any other ideas.  I don't even know what to ask at this point.  Our itinerary includes Edinburgh, Inverness, Kirkwall, Glasglow, Belfast, Holyhead, Dublin with overnight, Cork and Portland.  Where did you start your research?  Thank you! Cindy

2019 then...:)

I would start by looking at the tours offered by the ship. That will give you a good idea of what there is locally and you can use that as a basis for your own plans.

All those towns have a tourist office and that is another mine of information - search for "xxx tourist information centre"

Join your Cruise Roll Call, others might be talking about private tours that interest you.

When I went on the 12 day and 8 day British Isles cruises,  I would checked the last couple of years before and the same year different Roll Calls to check out what others were booking and when I found a tour I would post on my Roll Call for others to join.

Here are plenty of threads about Portland, found by using the search feature

https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=Portland &type=forums_topic&nodes=148

To do the same with your other ports.............

Go to the Great Britain forum

In the top right hand of the page, click on "search".

From the drop-down, change from "everywhere" to "this forum".

Type the name of a port or city in the "search" box

Click on to spyglass alongside the search box.

Just like the list of Portland threads, this will bring up a list of threads about that place.
