Shoe Storage Ideas on O Class Ships?

I've been musing about this issue too since we have a world cruise in our future.  There are two types, one that hangs over a door, so could be deployed inside the walk-in closet.  Or one that actually attaches to the hanger rod, either with velcro or snaps; this solution takes up about 3 inches of your hanging space.

The first would look like this:

https://www.amazon.ca/Organizer-Hanging-Closet-Storage-Pockets/dp/B07GL3DH1Z/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=shoe+storage+hanging&qid=1570555891&smid=A24PKTMFJESKDB&sr=8-5

The second like this:

https://www.amazon.ca/Hanging-Shelves-Organizer-Premium-Storage/dp/B07C4W78T1/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=shoe+storage+hanging&qid=1570555944&sr=8-10

Since I already own the second type, I will probably just take it along.  If you can't fill it with shoes, you can put other stuff in there, like t-shirts or scarves.

Hi Wendy, another great idea for shoe storage. Ten pairs of shoes should suffice for two, any more might blow a 30kg flight luggge allowance. Panda and I have average to small feet fortunately, for space and weight. Which shoes to pack must be a hard choice for folk with larger sized shoes. I am guilty of buying more shoes especially in European Ports.

An update regarding the Ikea shoe storage I suggested earlier. I did use it on the cruise I recently disembarked. It worked well hanging in the closet and kept the floor free for most of my shoes. My gym shoes and sneakers I kept on the floor. I couldn't use the hooks for the storage unit as it was too heavy with the shoes in. However we did find the hooks handy for hanging up hats, scarves and belts which kept tables and bench tops less cluttered.

I have used the cupboard as pictured above but I find on Encore and Ovation as the cupboard is narrower it is not wide enough to put my big foot shoes front on, but side on works.😊

I find that there is always plenty of hanging space and one of these over the rod organizers is quite handy. It packs flat and can be used for other items as well as shoes.

This one would fit on the lower bar on the double bar section

I am guilty of taking multiple shoes and aside from the floor of the closet I have used the cupboard at the end of the bed. It isn't so easy to see all the shoes at a glance in that cupboard though. The next cruise I will be trialling a hanging shoe holder I purchased from Ikea. I will use two magnetic hooks to hang it up.

I have trialled it with the shoes I am taking and it takes them all apart from my Gym shoes. My husband's shoes will stay on the floor. 😎

I very much endorse your solution frantic36.

We've used this on cruises but also on the long distance touring trains such as Rovos & Golden Eagle.

It's inexpensive and takes up little space in the luggage.

Not sure about the magnetic hooks though !

They weren't strong enough for the shoe storage idea but they did come in handy to hang our hats and caps in the corners of the room. It just meant more free bench space. And since we had bought them anyway we decided to use them.

I agree the shoe hangar was useful to quickly see the shoes and we have the baggage allowance so why not. I already have it packed for our first cruise on QM2 this March. 🙂
