Do Not Post Unsolicited Tour Reviews/Recommendations

Recommended Posts

Greetings everyone!

Thank you for visiting the Northern Europe port message board. In keeping with our mission of helping you make independent decisions that best suit your unique needs, our goal is to keep the forum free of promotional posts that might inappropriately influence someone trying to make their best travel choices.

Please remember to only recommend a guide or tour operator that you have used within a reasonable time frame (about 18 months) and refrain from posting about a booking you have made, but not yet experienced. Also, as thrilled as you may be about a recent experience, please save your praise for replies to inquiries for experience only; do not start a new topic. As ever, we hope you will submit a review so all of Cruise Critic will benefit from your experience, and so that YOU might win a prize from Cruise Critic.

Below are two important excerpts of our guidelines to keep in mind when posting; bad actors do sometimes slip past our filters, nets, and yes, even hosts (!) as they attempt to circumvent our rules and place posts here using false profiles posing as members either straight up touting a guide or company or, sometimes post the question with one profile and pepper it with posts from other false profiles.

Cruise Critic will remove violations of the "third-party recommendation" guideline without warning. Additional posts may result in permanent suspension of your posting privileges.

We encourage you to utilize the reporting system built into the board system; you'll find a Report a Post icon located in the upper right hand corner of the posting. Use it! We will review the report and take appropriate action.

How can you recognize a false profile?

These profiles tend to have very low post counts, typically less than ten posts, and never have an avatar.

What to do?

You can look to the right of the date of the post near the top of the text box and notice the Report Post function, please click on it! That will flag the post for quick review by any host or administrator and possible removal, if appropriate. We want the experience here to be the best it can be for you.

We are aware of the usual suspects but they work quick. Our members are the best. If you notice something that doesn't look quite right, hit the report button so we see only your content, not theirs. Thank you for your contributions to the community!
