Wine for Australia Cruise

Does anyone know if there is a wine store at Sydney airport to purchase wine to carry on our Princess cruise?

Last time I come through Sydney airport there was a duty free just before immigration but that was a while ago.

or you could go up to departure.

 If your ship leaves from circular quay there is a small liquor store or as we call it a bottle shop.

Plus there’s a couple of pubs a stones throw.You could drop your bags and go and have a drink and get a couple of bottles.The closest is Fortunes of war .

There are also bottle shops near the OPT if that’s where you depart, that often have a better/cheaper range than duty free, but if you sail from White Bay there is nothing, zero, zilch, zip.

There are bottle shops in the Port Melbourne shopping centre, about a 20 minute walk from Station Pier. Many supermarkets have bottle shops attached. There are also a few in the Melbourne CBD - perhaps google to find one close to your accommodation.

In Auckland you will find bottle shops in the CBD , and 4 blocks along from where your ship docks is a large Supermarket...called COUNTDOWN , and they have an extensive collection on local wines .

I would not buy WINE at the airport (duty free) in Australia. 

No cheaper (if not more expensive) than in the city, where you will find plenty of bottle shops (often attached to supermarkets). You will find a wider selection and get better advice

You are correct Mr GUT, I completely forgot about the. Beacon Cove Food Shop. Attached is some of the wine brands they stock.

The fish and chips shop is still there but not owned by Rex Hunt any more I believe. We took our grandsons there for lunch one day, it was so good if a little pricey.

A fish'n'chip shop owned by him would then be more a CHIP shop only.

That’s him I guess he only sold the ones caught by other people.

In Australia Liquor Stores are often located in a separate shop next to Supermarkets.

In New Zealand Supermarkets sell Liquor (not spirits) within the store. 

 

Wine at Auckland Airport is usually at above market rates - actually excessive a better description.  A wine in the supermarket for $10 will be $20 at the airport!

Definitely skip the duty free if you have time and visit one of the large liquor outlets such as Dan Murphy's, Cheap Liquor, or BWS. The prices are usually better than at duty free stores and the range is much larger.

But google doesn't give price or selection information. Sometimes location is not the only information people are looking for. Giving more details in a thread helps cut down on the numbers of threads on a given topic.
