Much depends on your departure time. However, if you are leaving from Florida, I will have breakfast at my hotel. Then I will eat lunch on the ship when we board. We usually eat at the Ocean View Buffet around 1 pm. I believe it opens at 11 am.
Mark_T Posted October 14, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2019 On most if not all cruise ships, you are not going to be boarding early enough for breakfast to be a likely option. The morning is mostly for getting the previous guests off the ship, so they get the breakfast 🙂

Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted October 14, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 14, 2019 Generally speaking, I think most passengers have lunch in the ship's buffet restaurant located on their 'Lido" deck. Some cruise lines have their main dining restaurant open for a short period of time, but may not promote it (HAL). Celebrity invites their Concierge level guests to dine in the main dining room, and Suite guests can use their dedicated dining room. Some cruise lines might have one or more of their 'additional charge' restaurant(s) open for guest. It all depends which cruise line you are sailing with.
Cruisin4ABruisen Posted October 14, 2019 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2019 I've done Sushi on 5. You have to pay for it, but it's normally a quiet place.
NantahalaCruiser Posted October 15, 2019 #8 Share Posted October 15, 2019 You can also get a burger, hotdog and/or fries at the Mast Grill or some light fare at the Spa Cafe - all included in your cruise fare.
volk904 Posted October 15, 2019 #9 Share Posted October 15, 2019 (edited) Most people eat at the Buffet but it is usually very crowded. Because we are pool people and weather permitting we usually bring our swimwear in a backpack and change and hang poolside picking up food at the Mast Grill by the pool. Actually the best day by the pool if you come prepared. Edited October 15, 2019 by volk904
Rare Pennstatedj Posted October 15, 2019 #10 Share Posted October 15, 2019 We just got off the Equinox and we did the Sushi bar on 5. It was great. We spent $25. We had a drink package. It was nice to spend a couple of hours there until the rooms were ready. We enjoyed it so much that we did lunch again two other sea days.

LOL.....thank you so much and Volk94. We have cruised Celebrity several times and never once have I thought to go to the Mast Grill upon embarkation to eat!!! Always end up at the crowded buffet amidst the mad rush😏 New lunch plan for Feb 2020 embarkation haha
jelayne Posted October 15, 2019 #12 Share Posted October 15, 2019 If you board at 1 or after the buffet isn’t crowded. we catch breakfast at the hotel just before it closes, have late checkout at the hotel and take a Uber to the ship. We just never have been interested in getting to the port early, waiting to be called to board and then spending 2+ hours with our carry-ons until the cabins are open. Reel Love Posted October 15, 2019 #13 Share Posted October 15, 2019 Thank you for the tip, Jelayne ☺️ I hear you abut the lugging carry-ons around the ship. Fortunately for us I think our next cruise (Silhouette Feb 2020) has the "go to the cabin to drop off your carry-on/pick up your key card option" so at least that eliminates one issue! Rare DENIE Posted October 16, 2019 #14 Share Posted October 16, 2019 If interested in breakfast, I would eat at the hotel before boarding. As others have said, the buffet, etc on the ship are typically serving lunch during the boarding hours

kokopelli-az Posted October 16, 2019 #16 Share Posted October 16, 2019 When you board, the crew always tries to guide passengers to the buffet, which can be a madhouse on embarkation day. Your itinerary may differ, but attached is what was available for dining options on the Equinox in Feb 2019.
Rare Terre Posted October 16, 2019 #17 Share Posted October 16, 2019 (edited) We eat lunch in the buffet. Since we fly in the day of (usually) we eat breakfast before boarding our flight. zltm089 Posted October 16, 2019 #18 Share Posted October 16, 2019 I was just about to post a similar thread. My boarding time is 2pm, but I think we have to be there 90 mins beforehand. I want to board as early as possible, but don't think they will allow us to do so and more likely will miss breakfast. We have a concierge balcony room, so will the "main" restaurants be open for us for lunch? Or will it be buffet only?

I typically board by 10 am. I prefer boarding early just in case something goes wrong. You can show up earlier if you choose and X will allow you to board. If you get there early, you will be able to board (as long as the ship has been opened for everyone to board). Take a look at this form Celebrity's website, "for eating on embarkation day, you’ll find that most people head straight to the buffet to have lunch and wait for their staterooms to open. But if you book a Concierge Class stateroom, you’ll be escorted to the main dining room for a full service plated lunch." https://www.celebritycruises.com/blog/west-coast/dos-and-donts-for-cruise-embarkation-day Edited October 20, 2019 by kokopelli-az

I have never heard of any line beginning boarding that early - they are usually disembarking passengers until 9/9:30.

High C's Posted October 23, 2019 #24 Share Posted October 23, 2019 So glad I saw this thread, as we will be on Equinox in 2 weeks and in a Concierge cabin for the first time. I know what is listed as "perks" on Celebrity, but have also read on here that some of these perks are actually no longer available. So if there are any "must haves" in a Concierge cabin, please let me know. Our boarding time on our boarding pass is 12:30 - 1. But if I read correctly, the main dining room is open until 1 pm for lunch for Concierge. Will we be allowed to board earlier?
lola2013 Posted October 23, 2019 #25 Share Posted October 23, 2019 Like Keesar mentioned, we have a favorite breakfast spot near our Ft. Lauderdale hotel. A big breakfast by 9am holds us over until we are able to grab a quick snack at either Oceanview or Café al Bacio once we board.
