Jim, thanks for sharing all your information and beautiful pictures. Great review.

The food in Luminae looks good but I still think the menus are very limited. I know you can request in advance but most people would enjoy at least as many choices as they have in the MDR.

I agree with you.   The menu is limited but is decent.   Especially on a B2B the menus get boring quickly.   It would be nice if they had at least as m any choices as Blu or the Main Dining rooms.    The way they are handling it now is allowing suite guests to dine in any of the other restaurants.   Not ideal.

Iain's been ordering from the Kids menu to get some variety.

Have to wonder if that is the person on these boards whining that they have been locked in spite of the weather being such that having them down is NOT advised.

I've never experienced the IV myself except from the doorway so have had no personal experience with these rooms.   When they first announced them I thought they would really be neat.   We rarely leave our door open so not sure how we would use it.   I don't think many have theirs open today.

My sister and I have modified the burger in a couple of ways.  She asked for it to be a grill cheese sandwich ie, a cheddar grill cheese with onion jam.  I have them cut the burger in half horizontally so it's thinner.  (Or put a kids burger in)

I have sometimes had them substitute blue cheese to give it a twist.  I love strong cheese.

Jim, thanks so much for sharing your journey with us.  As with many (all) of your cruises I always look forward to your daily updates, pictures and commentary.  It is so much fun to follow along.  Katie

Thanks Katie -

I have met so many Cruise Critic members on board who are following along.    I feel like I have known some of them for years.   LOL   I probably have.

I'm going to concentrate on the ship a little in the coming days.   I'm sure pictures of the sea would get boring quickly.   While we love sea days there isn't much scenery change.

We were in a Concierge IV cabin in March. Was not a fan. With the window down I felt like a dog sticking my head out of a car window !!! Did love the blackout blind. Thought the bi fold doors were a complete waste !!!

The blackout shades would be nice for sleeping.   One cool thing in the CS is they have motorized drapery.   You can open and close them using the panel on the wall,  the Celebrity App or just give them a slight tug and they open.

Dinner 11/5

We were debating eating at one of the alternatives for dinner but ended up dining at Luminae.

For starters. Iain had the soup an I had the Chicken Liver.

Iain ordered the fish from the Kids Menu.  Said it was good and like Fish and Chips. I ordered the Peppered Tuna, my favorite fish entree.

Hopefully MSC does a better job of designing the cabin interior. Eliminate the frosted doors and call them OV cabins - which is what they are !!!

I agree 100%  The IV balcony concept is great but it was poorly executed by Celebrity.  MSC needs to learn three lessons from Celebrity: 1) Maintain the current size of the conventional balconies with the interior doors closed  This implies not miniaturizing the current balcony furniture.  2) The interior doors design needs to be improved or perhaps the cabin needs to be enlarged.  There needs to be sufficient space for the interior doors to open and close without re-arranging the furniture in the cabin  3) The interior door need some sort of curtain device.  Perhaps the glass in the interior doors needs to have the electronic shades in the glass.  If MSC can make theses changes, they will have a winner.

Jim,  Thanks for taking the time to do this real time blog.  It's fantastic. 😀

I believe they were changed for privacy reasons as many complaints were about situations like this

In theory the frosted glass bi-fold doors would solve this concern.  However many passengers have resorted to leaving the bi-fold doors open the entire cruise because it is too cumbersome to open or close the doors.  If you can't open and close the doors easily, the frosted glass doesn't do anything.

Awoke to a beautiful sunny day.    While the seas look smooth the ship has a pronounced roll from Starboard to Port.  It is now noon and we are adjacent to Marrakesh.   The winds are suppose to pick this afternoon and white caps are again increasing.

I spent the morning walking.    Edge has to have the best walking track on any ship we have sailed.     I got in 7 miles before lunch so feeling energized.

We are currently near the red dot.  This one is from Windy and showing forecasted Winds.

I love that the track goes up and down 2 decks.  Great for aerobics.

Loved the little rainbow on the edge of the track.

I also thank you for your detailed review. If it is possible, could you please find out if the desk chairs that do not fit under the desk in Sky Suites have been replaced?  Hopefully, this will be corrected on Apex.

I’ll see what I can find out.  Haven’t heard anyone mention.

Today was a great day for walking.   As the afternoon went on the seas picked up and it was a little difficult.

Following are pictures of the retreat sun deck.  Being a sea day there were many soaking up the sun but plenty of loungers both in the sun as well as shade.

The Edge desk chairs were always fine and fit under the desk. Very comfortable!

It’s the Revolutionized M Class that had that issue, I believe.

Here is the chair on Nov 27th, 2018 - her 3rd day of sailing with passengers. 🙂

Looks so nice (and we will have snow tomorrow).  Glad to see that they moved some loungers into the shade. That place is paradise (excuse me while I go see what it would cost to upgrade my Apex cruise). 🙂

The suite area is very inviting!  Thanks to Jim's posts, we are  looking forward to Luminae on our Connie cruise. Hope we do not become addicted to suite life..as we can barely afford AQ Class these days!

We have snow in our forecast too here on Long Island...just nuisance snow, we hope,  We bought a large snow blower this year..hope it remains unused!

Time for the snowbirds to fly south.!

I've done suites and gone back and loved our cruises. May have to wait to see if there is a Move Up offer, but most suites are gone for the Inaugural and Sky Suites are through the roof. There are only 2 S3's left and they are about $10,000 for 2. The Iconics are $84,000 for 8 nights!

You must be heading out soon - only 9 more days until you are back on the Edge!! 🙂
