Onboard Meraviglia Canada/NE, any questions?

On board Meraviglia for Canada/NE until Oct 28.  I may do a review after the trip but if anyone has questions I can try to answer.  I know others are posting live reviews.  I am not in Yacht Club so won’t be able to speak to that.  I am staying in a Aurea corner suite with whirlpool and have premium plus drink package. We are having a great time so far.

A couple things I have seen asked before.

—Soft serve ice cream (vanilla or chocolate, cone or cup) is available free to anyone (no package needed) at the Atmosphere Pool Bar North, outside the buffet and opposite the grill.

—Ice tea and lemonade is available free to anyone in the buffet during lunch and dinner in addition to a couple of juices, coffee, tea and water.

—The TV is very limited in English speaking channels but you can hook up your laptop and play content (locally saved content, not streaming).  It is difficult to get the HDMI cable in due to the TV is mounted close to the wall but it’s not impossible.  Also once the MSC App loads, you can’t switch inputs.  You must turn on the TV, then hit the “source” button quickly before the MSC app software loads and then you can switch.
—There is only one US power outlet in the suite, which is at the desk in the living room.  The bedroom only has European outlets.  In the suite, the bedroom is a separate room completely so we had to get an adaptor to plug in my husbands CPAP.  I don’t know if they give out adaptors to everyone or only for medical needs so just FYI you may want to bring one.  In a regular cabin the desk may be closer and not an issue.

On Seaside there is a bar between Teppanyaki and BC that serves smoked cocktails.  BC moved on Mera.  Do they have smoked cocktails anywhere?

Yes they have the smoked cocktails in the Sky Lounge.  They are $13.  They are only included with premium plus package (and maybe yacht club but I don’t have experience with that).

I hope you don't mind my posting but we just got off the Meraviglia yesterday and I wanted to mention that the hairdryer was in the drawer of the desk.  We were in an ocean view and I couldn't find it till another passenger told me 3 days into the trip .  Hope this helps someone.

Must have been very uncomfortable, for 3 days, until finding the hair dryer in your drawers. 🙈

Thanks.  We were yc in June and had booked prior to change and they were included.

Have a great trip!

Can you help with any of my questions in this thread?

I just booked this last-minute, so I'm scrambling to learn as much as possible in the next week!

I can try a few.  The embarkation process in NY was very simple.  When you arrive at the pier, you hand your luggage over on the lower level.  You then board an elevator to the upper level, pass through a passport check, followed by a security screening of yourself and hand luggage.  Then you are sent to a line to check in based on your experience booked or status.  We arrived at 12 and we had priority since we were Aurea but none of the lines were long.  They give you your cruise card at check in and a boarding number, then you sit and wait for your number to be called to board.  We boarded immediately and went straight to lunch in the buffet.  Rooms were ready about 130pm.

Beverages are free at the buffet, in the morning it’s milk, fat free milk, chocolate milk, several flavors of juice, water, coffee, tea and hot milk.  In the afternoon and evening, there is water, ice tea, lemonade, two juices, coffee, tea.  A soda is about $3 at the bar but depends on the bar as I have seen different pricing.  It’s been Coke products on this cruise so they must have changed when coming to USA.  You will also have a mini bar and can buy a soda from there as well for $3.25.  I have a package that includes the mini bar but you can buy individual.

Internet access is slow but ok for email.  No streaming and slow to load photos.

I can’t really answer on deck chairs because on this cruise we are in cold weather.  Yesterday at sea barely any were in use.

Pool towels are provided in your room.

I will for sure give extra cash for tips on top of the daily service charge, specifically to our room steward who is excellent.

Great additional tip about the hair dryer!

Thanks for the tips!

We're looking forward to sailing onboard the Meraviglia in December.

Can you tell me what theme nights you had on your cruise?

How many formal nights?

Was there a Flower Glory party? White Party? Pirate? Gatsby?

Thanks in advance!

So far we are on night 4 of 10 so I can’t answer completely yet.  We have had 1 elegant night so far.  Tonight was Little Italy in the MDR.

There was a Pirate party, Space party, tonight is Thriller party and tomorrow is White party.  I will let you know about the rest of the nights.

$6.00 wines for the "Easy Package" I really wouldnt know a good wine from bad. Have a friend who is

into wine tasting and told me even cheap wine can taste good. When I booked it was a complete surprise that I had

"easy" for my 20 days. I'm sure I will be happy with whatever. Thanks for posting!

I can answer that one!  No, no life jackets.  You don't even have them in your cabin.  They are all kept in lockers near the lifeboats, which actually makes more sense.    We were on the previous sailing where embarkation was such a disaster.  The muster drill was an hour late and was a total joke.  We were in the casino and no one was paying a bit of attention.  We didn't even see anyone checking attendance.  As far as they knew we weren't there and no one ever followed up on that as required by law.

when you have a moment and if you have a chance, can you please snap some pics of the MDR dinner menu? You don't have to post them while you cruise if the internet is slow, but I'd appreciate it if you posted them later.

How's MDR food? How's buffet? You can compare to other major lines if you want. We've been on Princess, RCL and NCL before.

Oh, thank goodness... I hate having them in the stateroom, too.... takes up room in the closet!  (I usually cram them above the closet.)

Totally agree on having them stored by lifeboats.... that's where you'll need them!
