Shoeho58 Posted October 23, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2019 much about the type and quality of the food. We're looking to do some cruising in the US rather than abroad. We're not super-picky, but we're a little adventurous. Any comments on food quality on this line over all? Thx
diplomats Posted October 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2019 On American Duchess last summer for 16 days. Meals in the Main Dining Room and the more casual River Cafe were up to ocean cruise standards (Princess, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity). Themed nights in River Cafe were well done, especially the Italian and Creole buffets. Sunday Jazz Buffets were excellent with a wide variety of protein and veg selections and desserts. Daily menus in Main Dining Room contained choices for every taste, but would not describe them as "adventurous". As usual in mass feeding situations, steaks were nothing to write home about, but the Prime Rib was excellent, as were almost all of the fish offerings. Not perfection but a high standard was maintained. Should mention breakfast and lunch, both offered in MDR and casual cafe. Selections were very good, with fried eggs and omlets offered in both locations. Mustn't forget about the soft serve ice cream and cookies that were available almost 24/7 along with speciality coffees in Perks. We have done two river cruises in Europe (one with Vantage and one with Viking and would rank AQSC just slightly below those two on culinary prowess.
