Charlottetown culinary walk isn't worth $89US each!

I'm outraged that this tour cost $120 a person.  For this amount of money I was expecting to taste seafood in a  cafe/restaurant specializing in that seafood.  First stop was to taste a raw oyster in a shack apparently selling lobsters; second stop was a kraft beer pub where we got a pint of beer each and 3 bowls of mussels cooked in different sauces to be shared among 12 people,  third stop were PEI  Fries.  The last was their "famous" lobster roll which consisted of a cold, charred bun, wilted lettuce and a chunk of lobster.  In Boston at the Salty Dog the two of us had had an excellent lobster roll, fries, slaw, 3 beers and tip for $120 Canadian.The chef should take some lessons from the Salty Dog in Boston.  We could've had a fantastic  dining experience for $240 if we'd walked  5-10 minutes from the HAL ship on September 25, 2019.

Umm - I think you need to post this on the East Coast forum.  Vancouver is 6,000 kms away from Charlottetown; an entire country separates them.

This should get moved over to the right coast by the Mods (I've reported it, as OP is a one-time-poster so even if they do come back probably isn't familiar with how the site works).

 

For clarity - this is the cruiseship version of a local PEI Experiences tour that gets 100% 5* reviews on TripAdvisor, with the cost bumped up from CAD$69pp. Unless Op forgot to mention the coffee stop, they were also short-changed on one of the included indy tour version stops! Obviously at the vastly-inflated cost it's going to be poor value regardless of food quality - and to be fair ALL food tours are always over-priced if you look just at the food cost that you are getting. The crux is whether the spiel from the guide is worth the extra cost of the tour or not.

 

I won't comment on OPs opinion re: quality of food served as I wasn't on that tour, so complaints on that front might be totally valid - but the description of the tour on both original PEI Experiences website and the cruiseline version 'cut & paste' I've found listed on HAL, Princess etc. clearly state that you will be visiting multiple locations which include a chip shack, bar, lobster pound etc. and not a 'specialist seafood cafe.'

 

OP, sorry, but this is a clear case of you failing to do any research whatsoever as to what your tour consisted of - not even reading the included cruise brochure/leaflet info - and also unfortunately falling for the all-too-typical cruiseline markup that makes even a perfectly-decent tour much worse value.
