Common Ground - Day 3 10am

This is the M&M line at around 8:45, I was there to trade a crystal block. More about that later. Unfortunately I could not go to that and get a good seat for the Common Ground presentation, so I dropped off my new block in the cabin and headed to the theater.  FYI, the M&M was actually listed in the compass. You don't see that very often.

Found a seat with Tony and Dot.  They had the pool band playing for us

20191104_095621.thumb.jpg.d6d3318b1441bb2a586f32ef33af7237.jpg

Cute slide showing 1969.  I was 7. Given that Flight incorporates the moon landing, I'm surprised that wasn't the basis of this slide

20191104_100600.thumb.jpg.31ded073c904cb033653fffa7592d914.jpg

Apparently no one worked very hard on the PowerPoint.  That will come up later

Our panel

20191104_101602.thumb.jpg.1ffb54201b25c56d76cbf2fd1be0a96b.jpg

Michael Bayley's first ship from what i recall

20191104_100940.thumb.jpg.24a0bd600eec89a9207202a054e8e6fc.jpg

Blah, blah, blah announcements

20191104_101706.thumb.jpg.5728e280a0303d9eeee16b0577f571f0.jpg

Now those that followed along last week know that I was posting 'live' durong this trying to get the scoop on the 2020 President's Cruise annuncement.  They did a sham vote to choose the itinerary and ship. We voted by cheering.  I still think Ovation in Alaska was the crowd favorite

20191104_121456.thumb.jpg.73ac3b514087d572effb855c3e12c7da.jpg

In the end, Mario Salcedo flipped a coin and Allure in the Med won.

20191104_121415.thumb.jpg.e50dee431550c62423b977cf60a82c93.jpg

September 13. Seemed like a good choice. I shared it via Messenger to a few close friends, and then posted it in this thread.

That was a mistake.

20191104_102924.thumb.jpg.03fea9e30da76265fc08dca84442ae7c.jpg

Then the guy in the white shirt appears, and MB looks confused.  The date is wrong. 😱

20191104_121308.thumb.jpg.ada56676efbce5c4a978f4e244392423.jpg

so Ken Rush exits the stage (and possibly his lucrative career) to pow wow with this group

20191104_121332.jpg.9036d2da26203d5acc080cc260a061e8.jpg

He then comes back and announce the date is October 25. Oops

Bummer, we can't go early, and the week after is practically sold out.

Oh, lots of prizes were handed out. OBC, airfare, BOSE headphones, free cruises, etc..

Other than the snafu a good event, but way longer than was expected.

Besides Hall & Oates, this is the "event" I would have been most interested in doing on this sailing. Very interesting.

Yes it is, but don’t tell anyone.  We have watched many performances from up there.

Oops.

For those not in the know, both Oasis and Allure used to have public balconies where the Aqua suites are.

There was a lot of Q&A, I covered some of it last week.

I've been to a similar presentation (without prizes) on the Mariner Odyssey last year.

Makes sense when there are hoards of upper tier C&A members

I am blessed to have never had that moment in the group photo, but have seen it happen to others during a presentation.  At a brand conference a VP of Franchise Sales was announcing a major development deal and named the original partner (who had dropped out and was suing us) instead of the new partner.  We all just sat frozen in time, then started debating in whispers, do we go up on stage and stop him.  Suddenly he realized what he said, turned a light pale grey and froze in mid sentence.  That was the last day I saw him.

I felt like I was overstepping on that, but I also could not just NOT say anything

I would not call that overstepping.  Thank God you were there. If I or my family members are ever in a situation like that you have my permission to step in.  Who knows if they would have turned him or not.

Good Lord that photo.  Seriously that was the best photo they could find.  Here 36 seconds on Google.

Was it a video and that's why it blurred?

It may have been a video now that you mentioned it, but it was still blurry

Windjammer Monday Night

I don't recall if there was an official theme, but the apps and desserts were over the top

This guy did the shrimp cocktail and Caprese salad

Wait. That's the Windjammer?

Correct. Now I have seen special offerings in the jammer as well as during MDR sea day lunch, but they were exceptional on this trip.  I don't have pictures, but I understand the MDR lunch on day 6 was really good.  Probably better than our Pinnacle lunch.

More on that later

It was 18 degrees here this morning. Winter is not coming.... it is here.

That might be the reason the Vanderbilt's chose Newport for their summer homes and not their winter homes.

BTW, our morning temps yesterday

They were really good, I'm sorry Laura missed it.

Here is the set list from their website. They played a good portion. Most were shortened quite a bit to fit more in.

I got there about 45 minutes early, spent time catching up with you all as I recall

Far right is Nick Weir. He sounds very British when you talk to him. This is where he and his posse watched from.

It's also where I spoke with him about CATS. He is on the far right. He really enjoyed the show

We voted on the encore. Bon Jovi was the winner. Living on a prayer. Sorry I could not upload it

Break out the winter coats.🤣  you can always tell the Canadians, we are the ones still wearing shorts and t shirts in that weather while the locals are bundled up.
