December 2021 Antarctic Eclipse

Recommended Posts

All three of Lindblad's ice-rated ships have special itineraries to position them for the eclipse.  How to choose?  The Endurance is more expensive than the other two.  The Orion's passengers travel through Santiago, which is presently experiencing violent protests.  And the Explorer is the old lady of National Geographic's polar fleet.  Decisions, decisions.

I ended up going with Lindblad/NG on the Explorer.  I had gotten the chance to take a shared cabin on the Endurance but turned it down, changed my but it was already gone.  I couldn't decide if modern & new was worth the extra $3000.

I was specifically looking for the eclipse event so the Orion wasn't even an option.  Hope it turns out to be a great choice for you.

Not sure if the eclipse in 2021 will be doable since Argentina and Antarctica are both closed to travelers due to Covid. It is unclear when both South America and Antarctica will reopen.
