I want to cruise to Cozumel and miss my cruise ship on purpose to stay in Mexico.

Yeah, I’d travel light and take my passport with me. I was curious if anyone knew if I could get a stamp from the port agent and it be like coming in on a plane. Would I need to get to an American Embassy? Or will they have me book a flight and deport me?

I’m pretty sure you can get in a lot of trouble doing this. I read an article a summer or two ago, and there was a family in the bahamas (maybe?) that stayed over night at a relative’s home and was planning to catch up with the ship the next day. I think they got fined and the cruise ship was none too happy.
