We were on the Paradise 2 months ago and it was still $1,000 if you bet 5x the $1.25. We will be sailing on the Liberty next Monday so it will be interesting to see if it's now Carnival-wide. Do you recall what it was if you bet 10x?

More and more casinos seem to be trying to stick it to the players because they think they have a captive audience. My response to them is that with gambling beginning to come to more states, with better options, they better learn that the players will stop coming.

I've already given up playing more than about $100 on a cruise, because their limits and payouts make me feel rooked.

That's a joke.   I better not see that in February on the Legend.

We saw this too on the Freedom last month.  It’s only the Royal that has the smaller payouts and only for less than the max 10 coin bet.  We used to sometimes play 5 coin 50 cent which is the same as 10 coin 25 cent.  Not anymore with the change.  You have to really watch those payout tables.  Other games including table games have had the odds reduced as well.  Ultimate Texas Hold ‘em no longer allows the 4x bet pre-flop and Roulette has added a 3rd zero/green number and payouts stayed the same.

I realize it’s a captive audience but casino games already have a house advantage that guarantees the house will win.  Cruises already have the worst odds/payout tables of any of the casinos.  These changes just mean less paybacks and less time spent in the casino - and probably far less cruises than we would have taken.

Yes I would love to know what the actual thinking is here. I can only speculate and any ideas that I come up with really makes no sence.of course some will continue to pay I mean play but my guess is that far more will not. I know I will not...

Kinda makes you wonder how many face cards are removed from the Blackjack decks!

What? 52 card decks unless otherwise stated, like in some of the silly blackjack games. They don't need to cheat as long as there are idiots that split 20.

I was on the Miracle 4 years ago Xmas.  I watched a blackjack table before playing to make sure it didn’t have any funky rules.  There was one other person at the table and in the course of our conversation with the dealer, he said” it’s not bad for them removing the queens from the deck.”  We both left the table.

That wasn't a blackjack table, that was a "Fun 21" table. It's basically Carnival's variation on Spanish 21. If you want to play true Blackjack in a Carnival casino, rather than some variant of 21, those tables usually are in the back with a $25 minimum.
