Cunard Queen Mary 2 - Blackjack Rules

Hi All

I've just been on a cruise on the Cunard Queen Mary 2, departing from Hamburg on 27 October 2019 returning to Hamburg on 01 November 2019.

Before the cruise I was looking for the casino rules on blackjack but I couldn't find anything. So for anyone else's benefit here they are:

1) Surrender is not allowed

2) Re-splitting aces is not allowed

3) Double after splitting is allowed. You can double on anything.

4) Dealer has to hit on soft-17 (but one dealer actually didn't and paid me out)

5) Dealer will check if they have blackjack

The casino currency is in USD and there was a $5 blackjack table and a $10 blackjack table. Both tables are hand shuffle (no shuffling machines) and there were 8 decks of cards.

On the Hamburg 5 day cruise I was the only player at the blackjack table. I guess German people don't gamble at all. They will comp you drinks at the table and at the slot machines (but you have to ask I think).

I've attached a picture of the blackjack table on this post.

I hope this is useful to anyone who is going on a Cunard cruise and is looking, like I did, for this information!

Regards

Simon

Both the $5 and $10 tables were paying 3:2 on blackjack.

I'd also like to know what the rules are on Princess, if anyone knows?

Cheers

Simon

The rules you mention in your first post are pretty standard across most cruiselines, with the exception of hitting on soft 17.  This can vary.

Most lines (Princess and NCL at least) also pay 6:5 for Blackjack on the lower limit tables, reaching 3:2 on tables starting at either $25 or $50 min bet.  Automatic shufflers are used on most lower stakes tables as well.

  • 3 weeks later...

I am sailing on Princess Star in December.  Does anyone know what other table games they have available?  I assume they will have a craps table.  Do they have Let it Ride, Ultimate Texas Holdem, and do have Texas Holdem poker tournaments?  Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Interesting because Holland America (also same Carnival Corporation ownership as Cunard and Princess) also pays 6 to 5 for Blackjack at all tables except their $25 tables where they pay 3 to 2. BTW I was on the Celebrity Edge last week and they pay 6 to 5 for blackjack at tables with limits of $25 and below. Need to play at $50 or $100 tables to get 3 to 2 blackjack.
