CrochetNCruisin Posted November 5, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2019 Has anyone been able to get this beer yet on Coco Cay? I read it would be available in November. We are going to Coco Cay next month and hoping to find it there!

Rare crewsweeper Posted November 5, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 5, 2019 Think you probably need to wait until ships out now come back as it's just November.

Not a fruity beer guy but it wasn't overpowering from the tap. Sorta like Ballast Point's Sculpin IPA.

But John and LaLa is the only "live" review going on now. Think they are back there on Friday or Saturday. I'll ask if John "tried one for the team" but don't think it's his drink of choice. Maybe someone just off the Mariner has a review. It travels there a lot. Anthem is there today as I recall.

I believe there is another live review in progress for the same two cruises on Symphony.

Rare crewsweeper Posted November 5, 2019 #11 Share Posted November 5, 2019 Need to look for that one. But I did post on John and Lala 's review so see if they respond.

Cruisin_n_Boozin Posted November 5, 2019 #13 Share Posted November 5, 2019 I think it'll be phenomenal. It shouldn't be classified as a "fruity beer". Beers brewed with fruit don't automatically make it a fruity beer. Funky Buddha Pineapple Beach doesn't taste like pineapple, just has some fresher notes. But the good thing is, for those of you saying it sounds awful, no one is forcing you to try it.
Rare crewsweeper Posted November 5, 2019 #14 Share Posted November 5, 2019 Well in the Live Symphony Halloween review above, on page 11, there's a picture of the CocoCay Chill Island bar menu and Thrilla wasn't listed. Appears both Live reviews are focusing on the harder stuff. So guess we'll wait for someone else to respond later down the line. Sure hoping to hear a report before February. Okay, so I’m a beer girl on occasion and this one definitely sounds like one I would try. It’s just been so hot, frozen drinks are like built-in climate control. I will look for this on Day 7. 👍
Rare aring75 Posted November 8, 2019 #16 Share Posted November 8, 2019 Okay, as promised. Three “new” Funky Buddha beers on Coco Cay including the Thrilla Chilla. All have been available at every bar I’ve seen so far - Skipper’s Canteen, individual beach bars, and the swim up bar.

Not my favorite IPA. Looking forward to hearing how Thrilla is. I plan on having about 73 in Dec when we sail. 1

Rare aring75 Posted November 8, 2019 #21 Share Posted November 8, 2019 Tried the CT, the IPA wasn’t cold enough yet. (And, in my opinion, neither was the Chilla, but it was 91 degrees today so...) It’s a blonde ale with hints of the fruit flavors. I think you taste the tartness of the mango more so than the guava. One reason why I would definitely want mine colder next time. It pours with a nice frothy head (I was being careful, but not overly careful - I was sitting at a picnic table) that dissipates rather quickly into a thin lacy foam. I poured this one into a cup so you could see the color, but the second stayed nice and cold in the can. Thought it went pretty well with the crispy chicken sandwich from the snack shack.

The chicken sandwich at the snack shack was 10x better than the buffet burger!! 👍 However, to be fair, I did not try the burger at the snack shack. It may have been better as well. I think those items are made fresher.

Needs to be made to order!
