Rare philv Posted November 8, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2019 Hi Folks, Headed to Ft. Lauderdale in March for a cruise on the Regal and plan to spend a couple days pre-cruise on Hollywood Beach. Can anyone recommend a good hotel along the Broadwalk? We have stayed at the Marriott and Margaritaville but they are too expensive. Looking for one of those funky hotels along the Broadwalk. (But not too funky) Thanks in advance for your replies. Rare CineGraphic Posted November 8, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2019 One block from the boardwalk, we stayed at Casa Pellegrino Boutique Hotel. It's owned by an Italian family. Both service and accommodations are superb. Don't take my word for it, here' a link to Trip Advisor, so you can see what other folks have to say. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34296-d8796643-Reviews-Casa_Pellegrino_Boutique_Hotel-Hollywood_Broward_County_Florida.html
Coolmama_1 Posted November 9, 2019 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2019 We have stayed at the Caribbean Resort by the Ocean. It is very close to everything and reasonably priced.
Guest arowe6 Posted November 9, 2019 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2019 I can’t advise on a place, but will tell you we stayed in FLL on the beach in March a few years ago. It was spring break / partytime during that time of year. Complete insanity. I think we were at a Marriott on the beach and it was crazy. I would advise staying someplace expensive and small to help weed out the party crowds from college (IMO). Enjoy your cruise. The regal is our favorite. Lynniepoo Posted November 9, 2019 #8 Share Posted November 9, 2019 We stayed at the Hollywood Beach Marriott on North Ocean Drive. It's an older hotel, but clean. It is on the beach with direct access, and a great restaurant on the beach, great for breakfast and coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. We are sailing in December and staying there again. Not really anymore. 20 years ago Hollywood was sleepy and Fort Lauderdale had nightclubs. Now they are pretty similar demographics as Fort Lauderdale has calmed down a lot and Hollywood has ramped up.
Jenner9 Posted November 10, 2019 #10 Share Posted November 10, 2019 We stay at Riptide Oceanfront Hotel on the Broadwalk. We love it. Little tiki bar outside and great location. No frills but clean!
Harborfamily Posted November 10, 2019 #11 Share Posted November 10, 2019 Another vote for Caribbean Resort by the Ocean. Stayed with a group of friends one night before a cruise out of Miami, and were able to enjoy the pool and super fun Tiki Bar upon arrival. Woke the next morning and explored the boardwalk/beach area for several hours, wishing we had more time there. Again, not a lot of amenities like you'd expect from a chain hotel, and I'm typically a snob when it comes to that, but we really enjoyed this place and would definitely stay here again. Fred&Lily Posted November 13, 2019 #12 Share Posted November 13, 2019 The Neptune Hollywood Beach Hotel is clean and convenient. It was quiet when we were there in April. In March you'll be surrounded by college kids and La Belle Province Canadiens. The Neptune does offer free loaner bicycles and also reasonable day-rates if you have a late flight out of FLL. BlueHerons Posted November 14, 2019 #13 Share Posted November 14, 2019 (edited) Go to www.Sunny.org and look the motels with the Superior Small Lodgings. They are from Hollywood to Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Hollywood Beach has had problems cleaning up its act. The Hollywood Beach Resort is a hot mess that can't be cleaned up or straightened out and it is bringing down a lot of the area. Love the Marriott, Crown Plaza, Margaritaville, and The Diplomat. I miss a lot of the old small inns like the Holiday Inn and the Greenbriar Beach Resort that made Hollywood such a cool place but there are still a lot of cool places left. That Holiday Inn had the coolest oceanfront tiki bar in Florida. Edited November 14, 2019 by BlueHerons

Mira28 Posted November 16, 2019 #16 Share Posted November 16, 2019 We like the Sea Downs and sister hotel Bougainvillea in Hollywood Beach. (Not sure about availability in March though. This year we’re doing a Home Away place).
