Haugesund, Norway

Hi,

I am asking the same question, so I am interested in what responses you get. However, we are looking at exploring on foot. My research so far reveals there does not appear to be a HOHO bus in the town......probably not big enough. And I think this is the port that gets you to the Pulpit Rock (albeit by helicopter on my cruise shore excursion list!).

There is also a Lighthouse to visit, but you will need transport to get there.

Some of the things to see in the town are:

- Our Savour's Church

- Haraldshaugen - Norway's National Monument

- Haraldsgarta Street (main shopping street)

- Haugesund Town Hall

And I believe there is a Coastal Heritage Path just out of town as well to walk along as well. .

It looks a very pretty town and should be nice to walk around.

The ship docks a little way out of town. We were met by a local who advised it's a 10 minute walk, we decided to do this but its definitely not 10 minutes more like 20 and we weren't dawdling. If you have any walking difficulties take the shuttle. The town is quite pleasant to wander and have a coffee on the waterfront but a little disappointing after the beauty of the fjords. If we go again I think we will take the trip to Scudeshaven

  • 3 months later...

I looked at the link for Avaldsnes to the Viking Farm, we will be there 7/30/20 from 9-5 on P&O. But it doesn't show that the bus runs that day leaving from the church, even though it says it runs when cruise ships are in. Is there a reason, are they closed? What has any others done while there. Thank you.
