phabric Posted November 10, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2019 Any suggestions for tours for this port?
Rare Coral Posted November 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2019 (edited) There are not a lot of tours in this port (and it was one of my least favorite ports). We used this company and had 2 different vans: We did Tour F: http://skjolden.com/en/visit-skjolden-bussturar/ Here is the email address of the person in charge (Turid): turidvisitskjolden@gmail.com Others on our trip did a RIB boat: http://skjolden.com/en/fjord-adventure-rib-boat-tours/ https://www.adventuretours.no/rib-boat-adventures/fjord-rib-adventure/ ------------- The area is not setup well for tours. The streets are very narrow and in many places only 1 way traffic can be had. A bus Princess tours were using was involved in an accident in this port. The sites we visited were very congested as our tour group was there along with all of the buses at one time. We stopped at some sites where many Northern European countries send their skiers to practice in the summer as there was still snow up there there. We also stopped at the Urns Stave church. There are not a lot of options in this port. I was there summer of 2018 and they had very few ships visiting that summer. I am guessing more ships will be here now that Flam is limited. Rare ski ww Posted November 11, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2019 Here are a few more things to do in Skjolden. Here are the five best things to do in Skjolden according to Trip Advisor https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g660712-Activities-Skjolden_Luster_Municipality_Sogn_og_Fjordane_Western_Norway.html Here is information about a variety of activities in Skjolden that can be done independently. I’m looking at kayaking or a RIB adventure. They have information about hikes and bike rentals. The tourist office is in the hotel. https://www.visitnorway.com/listings/skjolden-tourist-information/3627/ Here is information about bus tours around Skjolden and the surrounding area. https://skjolden.com/en/visit-skjolden-bussturar/ Here are a few suggestions on what to see & do in Skjolden. This comes from the roll call of a cruise that is a month ahead of ours. Hope it gives some ideas. Allan & Marlane
phabric Posted November 11, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted November 11, 2019 Thanks for the websites. Princess changed 2 of the Norwegian Fjords ports from past years to two smaller ports with not much in them to see or do.

I did Princess 2 summers ago and we did Skjolden :( My guess is Flam was too busy.

They apply to vessels, mostly cruise ships, sailing into the country’s protected fjords - primarily impacting cruises to Flåm and Geiranger. Hence many cruise lines cannot visit Flåm or Geiranger and have made changes to their itineraries.

If you email me, I can send you a list of vendors that our roll call used 2 years ago for our cruise. Not sure where you are in your planning. Cornishpastyman1 Posted November 12, 2019 #8 Share Posted November 12, 2019 As other have said there's not much there but we enjoyed bike-riding for a couple of hours (I think you book the cycles for 3 hours). All the best, Tony
