epixx Posted November 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2019 I'm surprised that the Viking Sky "parked" in Ashdod today, given the rocket attacks. Here's a hope that the ship and all passengers and crew remain safe.
Hockeyump Posted November 12, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2019 From what I have read elsewhere she did not dock there but turned straight around and managed to find a berth at Haifa.
Peregrina651 Posted November 12, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2019 Cruisemapper shows her currently docked in Haifa. Use this link if you want to continue to track her: https://www.cruisemapper.com/?imo=9650420
Heidi13 Posted November 12, 2019 #4 Share Posted November 12, 2019 The ship's AIS currently shows her in Haifa (alongside) and the track shows she entered Ashdod, circled off the berth and sailed North to Haifa.

tinaincc Posted December 6, 2019 #6 Share Posted December 6, 2019 We were on this same ship, same itinerary last November when, as we were docked in Ashdod the bombs started. It was the worst day of attacks since 2014. We were on a private tour at the time and our guide was extremely anxious to get us back to the ship. Once we arrived there was none of the usual greeting and there was no red carpet laid out. Once we got on ship we realized that the ship was going to leave momentarily, ahead of schedule, and return back to Haifa. It was intense. I was so shocked to hear it happened again a year to the day later! It made me rethink private tours because I cant imagine how nervous I would have been had the ship left and we had to make our way to Haifa (even though it was a short distance). I really do hope that Viking continues to visit the region as it is highly educational and very lovely.

NOT encouraging, as we are leaning towards doing the "Cities of Antiquity and the Holy Land" cruise sometime in the next 2 years. Haifa is on the itinerary. tinaincc Posted December 9, 2019 #8 Share Posted December 9, 2019 I have to say, had I known and knowing what I do know, I would probably pick another itinerary.
