pjtiern Posted May 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2004 One of the things we like to buy is art from local artists when we travel. Any recommendations in Naples, Venice, Rome, Corfu, Barcelona? Either watercolors or oils are OK. There have to be lots of choices -- knowing some good ones ahead of time can save hours of looking. Thanks. klw Posted May 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 21, 2004 Pat, I am also interested in art from the local artist of the area. A friend of mine just came back from Rome and said there was an artist who was selling 5x7 ink drawings of the coloseum and spanish steps for $20.00. He had a stand set up about 50' from the Trevi fountain. She said they were nice.

Rare Hlitner Posted May 21, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 21, 2004 One of our favorite pieces of art is an antique Venetian mask that we bought in a shop somewhere in the maze between St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge. Several years later we tried to find this shop (we did not remember the name) to no avail. However, there are many shops selling these Venetian masks and the good ones are true works of art. ClaudiaF Posted May 21, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2004 There are local artists selling their paintings ( all kinds) all along the area near St. Marks' Square prices vary from about 20EU to very expensive. In Corfu there are also artists selling very inexpensive oil paintings all over the place.
