Select dining arrangements on Constellation

Recommended Posts

I have read that the MDR seats 1140 and has huge two deck high windows on decks 4& 5 overlooking the wake.

But where is the area that they use for Select dining?

What tips would others offer about the best way of using Select dining on Celebrity?

Another question - what time are the shows?

Depending on itinerary shows are usually 7pm and 9pm or 7.30 and 9.30.  The last time I was on Connie Select dining was on the upper floor.

I'm not sure what you mean by the best way to use Select dining - turn up and eat usually works!

One of our cruises we had 4 cabins. I called my TA and had the bookings linked together. Also had my TA make select dining reservation of all evenings.

When we sailed Connie last winter, Select dining was on deck 4. Traditional was on deck 5. Note that the very tall windows are only visible in the back part of this very large restaurant, but there are also (normal size) windows along the side.

I don't know what you mean about the best way of using SD. You have lots of options depending on your preferences. Reserve any or all of your dinners before boarding. Reserve  any dinners after boarding. Or just show up when you are ready to dine.

On Connie and the other M-class ships there is more seating in the main dining room on deck 4 than on deck 5, so on the cruises when they had more people wanting traditional dining, the traditional dining was on deck 4 and select dining was on deck 5.

Than when they had more people wanting select than traditional, they switched them.

But on some cruises, the wait staff will be very accommodating if they have people in select dining waiting for tables, and they will seat them in the traditional dining area if open tables are available there.

On Connie a year ago, Select Dining was on the lower floor.

It is a very big room and crowded, so you won’t necessarily be anywhere near the big windows.

We didn’t bother making any reservations. When you go to enter the dining room, there are two queues, one for people who’ve made reservations and one for those without. On the first two nights, both queues were long at peak times (approx 7.00-8.30).

People without reservations were sent away with a buzzer until a table came free. This isn’t a problem as the Rendezvous Lounge is right next to the dining room. If you’re prepared to share a table, you’re more likely to get seated quickly, but we preferred to wait for a table for two. By the way, the tables for two are very close to their neighbours.

After the first two nights, things settled down and we were able to get tables immediately, whatever time we wandered in.

We have made reservations for each of our 15 nights onboard.
Is it possible to modify these reservations once you get onboard?

You can modify your reservations at any time. In fact you can just show up.... On other ships we have gotten a notice in the cabin telling us what were the usual peak times... so that if you want to just show up... earlier you do so ..the more likely you will be seated quickly with or without reservations. On other ships they have tried to keep us with our same wait staff. We usually have reservations between 6:15 and 7:00... and almost always are seated in the same area.
