We just booked a trip with this promo.  Does anyone know if this is the same thing as what I have seen referred to as "drinks on us".  It looks like we get free drinks in the casino.  Is this just if you are actively at a machine or do you simply have to order from the casino bar?  I am debating whether the Cheers package makes sense if we have already paid for a cabin with this promotion.

You need to be playing..... but if you tip the servers.....they are making sure you have drinks.....

Yes it is DOU, however as said above you have to be playing or look like your playing.  We have never been able to go to the Casino bar and get a drink using the DOU and we have 30 cruises under our belt. Service can also be slow so I always tip which does seem to get the drinks quicker to me.  To be honest we also always get Cheers

My husband is the gambler but I also get the DOU since it covers us both and I just go in, order a drink from one of the servers around the black jack tables (where my husband usually is) and they bring it to me and I leave. We do tip well so the servers are usually looking for us 😉 We've never bought the Cheers package.

With both the DOU and CHEERS, you will still be limited to the 15 alcoholic beverages per day total

How do you know if you qualify for this offer? I saw it advertised on a social media site and signed up for the offers but haven’t gotten any to my knowledge. Will it auto show up as an offer for me if I try to book a cruise?

I saw it on social media too... I submitted my e-mail as requested but never got a confirmation or invitation through e-mail.  When I went to book something a week or so later (after kind of forgetting about the potential offer) it was one of the several offers that I could choose from.  I don't know if that was because I had previously submitted my e-mail address and it was associated with my VIFP account or what.

The Casino offer says. Free drinks while playing. Once you qualify. What does that consist of?

I booked and nothing indicates the $50 for the casino or the free drinks on my booking.

So once I was booked, I can't see it on any of my documentation either.  I called Carnival and the rep said she could see it and that $50 in casino dollars would be loaded on my card.  She also said you could get your free drinks from waiters while playing or at the casino bar.  But I see others are saying they have trouble at the bar.  I guess we'll see in a few weeks!

You have to careful with the wording Carnival uses for their casino offers.  If it says “once you qualify” it means you have to earn the card through your play on that cruise.  On a 7 day sailing you need to earn 1500 points to qualify.

There are offers where you receive the card as soon as you get on board, but there won’t be any mention of qualifying in the offer.

That is not any kind of offer. That is normal on all the Carnival ships. So it is not a deal at all. 1500 points is a lot.

Ok, thank you. Congrats on getting it!

I actually just booked this offer. The free drinks are only for the person booking the offer, not for both people in the cabin. But you do not need to get 1500 points to qualify. Some promotions you do, but this one you do not.

I saw it on social media and submitted my information as well as my DH's and we are both using it as we are doing a back to back. I never received an email, It just showed up under my offers.

Both my wife and I received the offer.  I booked the cruise, but confirmed we both get the DOU.

Still getting Cheers.  Also, the DOU drinks do count against the Cheers limit.

Interesting! I was told it was only for the person booking the room. Hopefully, whoever told you that is correct!! Usually it does say on the offer though if it is for you and a guest.

Did they say anything about the $50 free play?

Thanks,

Donna

  • 2 weeks later...

Make sure that you take your casino booking code with you on the cruise. Different codes offer different benefits. The casino host will be able to check what benefits you get. We are taking our first premier casino cruise in January and both my husband and I are supposed to get Drinks on Us.

Have not been on in awhile.

Confirmed tonight the of us receive the offer on my booking.  Both of us received the offer prior to booking.  Only $25 each on On board  credit.

I asked the first rep if I can use the card at the bar, or have to wait for the wait staff.  Passed me to the casino department who stated I just needed to use the card at the bar.  But she did tell me I had to drink the beverage in the casino, would be watching me so I didn’t walk out with it.  Wonder if that is correct?

That is not correct.  You must be playing (at least sitting) at a machine or a table to get drinks on the DOU.  You can go where ever you want once the drink is in your  hand.  Ain't no one watching the exits to see who sneaking DOU drinks out

My recent casino experience.  YMMV:

In December I cruised under a casino offer. $50 OBC, Drinks on Us card, and $50 freeplay.

The $50 OBC was split between my husband and I - $25 each.

The DOU card was only for me. It could only be used through a waiter in the casino. I could not walk up to the casino bar and get a drink with it. I did not have to meet the qualifying points before using it (but I have seen "offers" that stated that you did -so watch the wording!).

The freeplay was only in 10 $5 "Funplay" chips. I could not get it loaded onto my card for use in a machine.
