Meriton Suites in Sydney

I’m looking for a centrally located place to stay in Sydney for a few days prior to a cruise. There are several Meriton Suites lodgings that look nice but don’t appear to be the typical hotel establishment. Are these places a good lodging option in Sydney?

thanks!

We stayed at the Meriton Kent St. for 9 days as part of a 3 week vacation to FNQ and Sydney back in '15. They're serviced apartments, complete with a decently equipped kitchen and laundry (although the combined washer / dryer has a habit of steaming clothes!) You won't get towels or bedding changed everyday - but then again we don't at home 😎 Wrote a review on TA:

Both Kent St. and Pitt St. are good locations - close to Town Hall St and public transport, George St, Darling Harbour, Chinatown, and Coles and Woolsworth for groceries (even if like us you only have breakfast), etc...

In fact we're back off to Oz again next year - FNQ and Port Douglas again - and probably Adelaide and SA - and where we'll once again book a serviced apartment

We have stayed at the Meriton Suites in Campbell Street, almost on the corner of George Street, so very handy for the light rail and a short walk to Central Station. We found the suite to be quite suitable for our use with a small kitchen and laundry facilities. It was quiet even though the light rail building was happening so close by.

We stayed in Meriton Kent Street. Loved the location with spectacular views out over Darling Harbour. Great central location to get to the main attractions by foot, and access bus or train, large shopping mall with grocery store just across the road. The suite was set up perfectly for our stay and we were even given the room early on arrival at reception in the morning after an overnight flight.

So what exactly is a “serviced apartment?”
Do they provide and replenish tissue and toilet paper?  Replace bath towels?  Clean room or make the bed?

I will be staying 5 nights so was wondering how that works.

Meriton suites where I am booked offers studio and one, two, three bedroom suites. Here is what I found on their website. Please refer to their website for additional information. There are serval all locations throughout Sydney. This is my first time stay here. Great reviews. I booked rather early in the year and got a great rate using a discount code from Trip Advisor.

HOUSEKEEPING SUITE SERVICING

Housekeeping services applied during the stay dates is communicated during the reservation process. Our typical housekeeping service is as follows;

  • Every day your suite will receive an Express Service where we will make the beds with existing linen, replace towels, replace finished amenities, stack the dishwasher and empty the rubbish.
  • For stays longer than 7-nights, your suite will be fully cleaned, including all linen changed once every seven (7) days.

For some discounted rates, extended stay reservations (21+ nights), international tour groups and wholesalers, student and other groups a weekly housekeeping service applies. This comprises of one (1) full clean once every seven (7) days with no housekeeping service on any other days. Additional full servicing outside the normal cycle can be arranged at an extra cost when required. Housekeeping is able to supply additional amenities at any time upon request.

We have been staying at the Meriton Suites in Waterloo, Sydney  for 2/3 days per month for the last 6 months (15 minutes bus journey to Circular Quay).

We have also stayed at a number of the other Meriton properties in Sydney CBD and at Olympic Park.

They have all the features of hotels with 24 hour reception coverage, parking,  pools , well equipped gyms etc but the benefit of separate bedrooms, useful lounge area and fully functional kitchens with hob, oven, microwave, coffee machines (pods) and laundry.

The suites are spotlessly clean, well maintained and serviced each day and are comparable in price to a hotel room.

I can highly  recommend them.

In March of 2014 before our NZ cruise and Post Cruise, we stayed at the Meriton Apt on Pitt Street. We wee central to many things and being able to walk  and thee was a metro stop nearby. Buses and HOHO also stopped about 1 block from the Hotel. We had a 2 bedroom for the 4 of us. We stayed 2 days before then another 9 days post cruise.

We've stayed at the Campbell Street branch as well and highly recommend it. It's a short walk to Chinatown with lots of great places to eat, and quite close to the train to the airport and elsewhere and buses that take you all over the city. Prices seem to fluctuate a lot so keep checking.

We used the market at the opposite corner off George St  ( Right out of Hotel & right again at the corner end of building )to buy our breakfast & dinners at the Pitt location..

I forgot to mention how close the Campbell Street Meriton Suites is to China Town and also is opposite Capitol Square which has various eateries including a famous Harry's Cafe De Wheels which sells pies of all types. This is  link to the menu if you would like to try an Aussie pie - https://www.harryscafedewheels.com.au/menu
