Thoughts on airfare price reduction

Here's a real example:
Toronto - Northwest coast - Toronto.
1. Pick airport(s). Much cheaper, in this case to fly to Vancouver, rather than, say Seattle.

Tick: save over $100 per person.

2.Best return airfare online: Air Transat (a smaller, charter airline, compared with the scheduled airlines)
Tick: saved over $100 per person
2. Booked it as two one-way trips.
Tick: saved another $30 per person
3. Booked it on the airline's UK website in UK pounds.
Tick; cheaper still (in this case, no fx fees to pay: have UK pounds in UK bank a/c).

(And, if you collect 'em, never forget about those flyer points that are sitting there doing nothing...)

However...

It is a charter. Therefore no codeshare, no reciprocity agreement to transfer tickets, missed flight or flight gets cancelled you are SOL until they decide to give you an available seat sometime in the future. But, you saved money.
