First Time Cruisers Here- Bathroom Floor Leakage

I do agree, on all our cruises we never had a problem that bad. Ok, we had the occasional leak but in most cases it was solved within the day. And with just a water leak, it doesn't stink right away, it takes a day or 2 of being soaked until the smell get unbearable (I have been through that at home once).

Normally they do try to help as much as they can. But a full ship means no empty cabins where they can move you to.

I hope in the end it all worked out and you had some compensation.

We have been cruising a long time (over forty years) and have moved (twice) because of plumbing issues.  Yes, it is pretty normal for any cruise line to offer you another cabin (assuming there is an available cabin) if they cannot quickly fix the problem.  If it is a comparable or better cabin then all is good in the world :).  But if the only other cabin is a downgrade then we would politely suggest there should be some kind of financial "adjustment" to "make us whole."  This would usually be some kind of On Board Credit (OBC) which was appropriate depending on the number of remaining cruise days and the price difference of the cabin categories.   As far as being inconvenienced with the move, that is just the way it is!  When we have been forced to move the cruise line would usually have 1 or 2 cabin stewards handle most of work including bringing a rolling rack so we could simply move all of our hanging stuff without repacking.

It is never fun when something goes wrong with a cabin but it is just a fact of life on big complex vessels.  It sounds like your ship is trying to find a solution and it just makes sense to work with them instead of against them :).

Hi there,

This is our first time cruising, and it's for our honeymoon. It's a 12 night cruise. On our 2nd night, we noticed our carpet next to our bathroom was completely soaked, and was travelling towards our closet. Not only this, but our bathroom completely reeked and we hadn't used it for hours. We set down some towels to soak it up, and the white towels were now completely yellow/brown looking and smelled like feces/urine. So we knew something gross was up with our plumbing. Housekeeping came and dried up the liquid, and cleaned our bathroom thoroughly. Now its day 8, and the same issue has appeared again! We were offered to move state rooms, so we went to see the room they had available and it wasn't nearly as nice as the one we originally paid for (we have a really nice balcony, and our floor is right below the spa) plus we really didnt want to have to move all of our belongings out and back in another room, ugh. We are so tired, and frustrated, and all we've been offered is a cabin change. Is this normal for a cruise?? I do not know how to react or what to ask for as this is our first time cruising. Any tips or advice on who to speak to or what to ask for? Thank you

We were on a cruise in 2010.I woke up in the middle of the night from water gushing from the ceiling. We called Guest Services and were told to leave the cabin.A few minutes later plumbers and a Guest Service rep appeared. The Cabin above us totally flooded and we had a pool of water in our cabin.People from Housekeeping came in to help us pack and we were moved to another cabin. However, that cabin had issues as well and we were moved to a third cabin. Our initial cabin was an OV and the third a balcony.

No issues with that one.We were given a $200 credit .Initially they said for a future cruise but they allowed us to use it on the cruise we were on.

Their other compensation was chocolate covered strawberries every night at bedtime.

They also laundered our clothing that had gotten wet.

Aside from this we have had several other issues with plumbing on other cruises.
