So ‘pescatarians’ should be able to eat them?

Good question . . . the jury appears to be divided on the answer to your question.

I just know I enjoyed eating them once only . . . delicious actually . . . and very rapidly became ill. My partner at the time some 40 years ago went back for seconds after taking care of me, so nothing wrong with the preparation of the meals. Before the meal I had not given a thought to their relationship to creatures to which I already knew I was allergic.

Further to my previous . . . escargots are usually farmed land snails, which I personally feel would exclude them from a strictly pescatarian diet.

There are however numerous sea snails, some of which are edible and I guess suitable for pescatarians, but the majority are toxic to humans.
