Cruises booked through a US TA, or directly with Princess here in the US do not have gratuities included in the cruise fare and those gratuities will be added to your onboard account, unless you get them included under a promo such as best sake ever.

My DW and I are looking at a Sydney-Sydney New Zealand cruise on the Regal in January 2021. This will be our first cruise down under. I've been out of touch for the past couple of weeks and have just started to catch back up (babysitting a mother with dementia). What is the gratuity policy on a non-Australia based ship cruising out of Australia? Is this sale worthwhile if auto-tips are not a "thing"? Thanks for any info and I apologize if this is has already been covered.

You are a little off topic but I will answer your question.  It isn't so much the ship but more your nationality.  If you are a US citizen, you will pay the auto-tip, or if your booking promo includes gratuities (like the current sale does), Princess will pay them for you.  This policy applies to ships based in Australia and everywhere else.

Thank you for the informative reply.

This may have been asked previously, but 33 pages is a lot to scroll through for an answer.

This sale includes a Premium Beverage Package.Does anyone know what is included in such a package ?

I looked into a cruise on the Enchanted Princess for 2/2021 and it shows two prices. One was a base fare, the other included wi-fi,pre-paid service charge and the beverage package. Since we do not drink alcohol,I would like to know if the offered package includes water, soda and specialty coffee. If so, the package would hold value for us.

Yes, the beverage package will include all alcoholic drinks up to $12, limited to 15 and all specialty coffees, bottled water, sodas, mocktails ... unlimited.

many thanks again to all who have posted in this thread … especially all those that posted these 'codes' and noted the ability to "add-on" these packages to an existing cruise … as I didn't see anything about being able to do that on the Princess website itself..

and when in doubt , call Princess or your TA and explain 'exactly' what you want to do … don't automatically take it if the rep states you can't just add-on, you have to re-fare or re-book under the current promotion(s)

and also not our cruise, "GETAWAY" promotion was not included in this chart, be we were able to book, then do the add-on which saved us about $ 500 rather than booking the same cruise, same cabin directly under BSE

sunshine , blue skies, and wavelets to all

Does anyone know if you are booked on the 3 for free can you use your obc to purchase the drink and WiFi package?  We have $400 obc.  Thank you.

No, you can't ... you can use it to purchase these items online or onboard but not use it to pay for the cruise promotion.

Just circling back here to say that my CP finally shows this for gratuities so I'm guessing they couldn't figure out how to show the amount as paid:

If you look at your Travel Summary from the same page as the Print Boarding Pass and Print Luggage Tags, click on Print Travel Summary, and on the Travel Summary scroll down to Special Services and Pre Paid Gratuities should show there.

Yes, the Travel Summary has been correct for a while.  It was just the Gratuity section on the Payments page that made it appear that you still needed to pay for tips.  But now they at least display the message I pasted above.

Reporting back since my TA is back in the country and this is what I've learned:

It is not possible to take the bare bones fare and add a couple of the perks (I wanted the Gratuities and beverage package .. .not the WiFi).  I can see that!

Also, I have the casino discount as well as the Anniversary Sale items with an excursion ... so, the promo isn't combineable with that, either....not because of the casino discount but because of the promo used for the anniversary sale.  I could just blow off those perks and go for the all in perks (Grats, Bev Package and WiFi) and still get the casino discount.... but I really love the Anniversary Sale perks so am leaving everything as is.  I struck out on 3 sailings that I have booked ... all which have refundable deposits.  But I did book one sailing outright and with the casino discount under the best sale ever, so am happy that one worked out for me.  While I am a little disappointed that two of the other three didn't pan out (I knew one was already at the best rate), I still got good deals and am happy overall.

It's the Cruise Personalizer which is Princess lingo for the part of the website devoted to your upcoming cruise.  The screenshot is under "Payments", then expand "Gratuity Pre Payment'" and you'll see it.

I know nothing about the casino discount but I have been able to add drinks and gratuities to a booking with anniversary sale. Your TA just needs to add promo code BEST2DG and the price will update. It could be the casino discount is making it not combinable.....

Also an FYI - I called Princess regarding the fact that when adding the beverage package for minors, it wasn't showing on the personalizer. The rep confirmed that this is a known glitch and is being worked on. She suggested calling back closer to sailing if it had not been fixed.

OK I went to Payments but do not see the image above - it shows an option to pre-pay gratuities etc. Under Payments, I see perks from prior cruise but Travel Summary and confirmation from TA I see all perks added, so I am not cpncerned.

That’s what I thought, too but, it is based on specific promo codes for former bookings....most apply but, the one I am under doesn’t.  There were three different anniversary sale promotions, the one I booked under is not combinable...and not based on the Casino discount which is combinable.

Just to make sure I am getting correct info from my TA, did you happen to get a free excursion with your Anniversary sale perks.  I’m being told that one is under a different promo code than the other two anniversary sale promotions and that is why it is not combinable.

We’re still being told that if we exclude the minor as the 3rd person on the ‘add-on’, as you are allowed under the T&C, they will lose their previous perks (even though others have been able to do it on this thread) 😒.

I have added the Drinks, Wifi and grats package at £35 pp pd (UK). On checking my travel summary they are listed under Special Services at the full price. Quite a difference in price, is this usual ?

I think when a monetary valued item is comped under a promotion,  they show the value of the package, not what is paid.  Also If I understand prior posts correctly, this is the first time Princess has allowed PAX to purchase packages separately through a promotion.  Prior to that, the comps would be included in the total fare and wouldn't separate out the purchase of the additional perks.  I hope this answers your query.
