Smoking concerns

The casino is all open so smoke can drift to other parts of 6/7/8. One side of waterfront you can smoke on so being downwind of that might not be pleasant. Unless they've changed it the smoking part of spice was off to the side and not too bad.

I have read many complaints about lingering smoke odor and when we were on Breakaway, Getaway's sister ship, we did detect an odor while passing through the casino.  I didn't notice it wafting to other areas in the vicinity of the casino, but I guess it really depends on how many smokers there are on any given sailing as well as one's personal sensitivity to cigarette odor/smoke.

We spent 19 days on Getaway recently. I never noticed any smoke smell on Decks 6 or 8. However, since the casino is on Deck 7 smoke could be detected outside the casino itself, particulary in Shanghai's restaurant which is located just outside the casino. We had lunch there once and could definitely smell cigarette smoke. I wouldn't go there again, plus we didn't really care for Shanghai's food.

There is no “problem”. Smoking is permitted in the casino which surrounds a 3 story open area. So the smoke in the casino is allowed to travel to three decks (one above and one below) mid-ship. And the only way to move from one end of the ship t the other is through one of these areas. This is by design, so it is not a “problem”.
